    Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for reporting a buffer status to a Node B, by a User Equipment (UE), in a mobile communication system. The method includes checking if a resource for data to be transmitted to the Node B is available, when there is a buffer status report triggered to be transmitted to the Node B; transmitting the buffer status report by using the available resource, if the resource is available; and transmitting a scheduling request to the Node B, if the resource has not been allocated for a predetermined time after the buffer status report is triggered.

    Abstract: A method of processing state information in a radio access network (100). The radio access network (100) includes a first radio access node (103, 104) that is associated with a cell (105, 106) and user equipment (102). The method comprises maintaining state information at the user equipment (102), the state information comprising at least one state information part associable with different values. The method further comprises transmitting a current value associated with at least one state information part from the user equipment (102) to the first radio access node (103, 104) in response to detecting at least one predetermined trigger indicating that the first radio access node (103, 104) may not hold the current value.     Abstract: In a cellular communications network, a measurement report is requested to enable handover conditions to be established. In one approach, a measurement report is based on satisfaction of an event. Signalling for this measurement report includes one or more parameters on the basis of which the event is defined, including a trigger time defining a time period over which the event should be satisfied for the report to be triggered. In one approach, speed dependent scaling is applied to a parameter other than the trigger time, in the defined event. In another approach, a handover scenario, concerning the nature of the cell in which the user equipment is operational, and optionally that of a neighbouring cell, governs the definition of a trigger event.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. A method performed by a terminal is provided. The method includes receiving, from a base station, a message for releasing a radio resource control (RRC) connection, the message including information indicating to apply alternative cell reselection priority information for a cell reselection, receiving, from a cell of the base station, system information associated with the cell reselection, in case that the system information includes cell reselection priority information and the alternative cell reselection priority information, performing the cell reselection for evolved-universal terrestrial radio access (E-UTRA) frequency and inter-radio access technology (RAT) frequency by applying the alternative cell reselection priority information to the E-UTRA frequency, and in case that inter-RAT cell is selected, deleting the information indicating to apply the alternative cell reselection priority information.
