Abstract: A light emitting element that may include a first electrode, a second electrode provided on the first electrode, and an emission layer provided between the first electrode and the second electrode is provided. The emission layer includes a first polycyclic compound and may also include second to fourth compounds. The polycyclic compound has a pentacyclic core including aromatic groups fused to heteroatoms and has a sterically-bulky, first substituent linked to the core. Steric bulk of the polycyclic compound may increase intermolecular distances and prevent or reduce intermolecular interactions that could impede multi-resonance characteristics of the pentacyclic core.
