    Abstract: The disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). The disclosure may be applied to intelligent services based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology, such as smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, smart retail, security and safety services. A method of a terminal in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes receiving, from a first cell of a base station, cross carrier scheduling configuration including information indicating that a carrier indicator field (CIF) is included in downlink control information (DCI); receiving, from the first cell of the base station, the DCI for scheduling a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), the DCI including the CIF; if the CIF indicates that a resource assignment of the PDSCH is for the first cell, identifying whether a first offset value between a reception of the DCI and the PDSCH is less than a threshold; and in case that the first offset value is less than the threshold and the terminal supports default beam selection for the PDSCH, receiving, from the first cell of the base station, data on the PDSCH based on quasi co-located (QCL) parameters for a control resource set (CORESET) associated with a search space with a lowest CORESET identifier (ID) within an active bandwidth part (BWP) of the first cell in a latest slot monitored by the terminal.

    Abstract: The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. In a method performed by a UE in the communication system, the UE receives, from a base station, an RRC message including PDSCH resource allocation information and TCI information; receives, from the base station, DCI for scheduling at least one PDSCH through a first PDCCH; and receives, from the base station, data through the at least one PDSCH. In case that TCI information related to the at least one PDSCH is different from TCI information related to a second PDCCH overlapping the at least one PDSCH in a time domain and a beam switching time is required between the at least one PDSCH and the second PDCCH, the UE does not expect the second PDCCH to be searched in a region overlapping with the at least one PDSCH.

    Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for beam failure recovery in a wireless communication system. A method for operating a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a first pair of reference signal (RS) sets including (i) a first set of RSs for detecting a first beam failure and (ii) a second set of RSs for identifying a first candidate beam for recovering the first beam failure and receiving a second pair of RS sets including (i) a third set of RSs for detecting a second beam failure and (ii) a fourth set of RSs for identifying a second candidate beam for recovering the second beam failure. The method further includes detecting the first or second beam failure; identifying a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resource for transmission of a recovery request for the detected first or second beam failure; and transmitting a first signal to request recovery of the first or second beam failure using the PUCCH resource.
