Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from minimization of service interruption. For example, certain wireless communication systems may benefit from support for minimization of service interruption with device-to-device-based user-equipment-to-network relay. A method can include determining that a layer 3 relay is selected for a remote user equipment. The method can also include sending an indication to a serving access node about the relay selection.

Abstract: First and second level discovery messages for device-to-device discovery are determined to be going to be transmitted, resource(s) are requested for transmission of at least the second level discovery message, and allocated resource(s) of a second type are received. The first level discovery message is transmitted on either a selected resource of the first type or a selected one of the allocated resource(s). The second level discovery message is transmitted on a selected one of the more allocated resource(s) of the second type, A first level discovery message is received on a resource of either a first type or a second type. It is determined whether the received message is of interest or not and if the message is of interest, then it is determined whether a second level discovery message is available and if so, the second level discovery message is received on a resource of the second type.

Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for sidelink (SL) based multi-hop UE relaying, for example, to support tracking applications are provided. One method may include determining, at a user equipment (UE), to which tier of a sidelink (SL) based multi-hop user equipment (UE) relaying the user equipment (UE) belongs. The method may also include determining at least a relaying mode and arrangement of transmit and receive occasions for sidelink (SL) transmission and reception in dependence on the determined tier that the user equipment (UE) belongs, and performing, on the determined transmit and receive occasions, transmit and receive operations for the sidelink (SL) based multi-hop user equipment (UE) relaying based on the determined relaying mode and arrangement.

Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for new radio (NR) sidelink relay of small data transmissions (SDT) are provided. One method may include determining whether conditions to use SDT via at least one relay user equipment are met. When it is determined that the conditions to use the SDT are met, the method may include transmitting a SDT relaying request comprising a SDT payload to the at least one relay user equipment. The method may also include receiving a SDT response, from the at least one relay user equipment, based on how the SDT relaying request is transmitted.

Abstract: The present invention provides apparatuses, methods, systems, computer programs, computer program products and computer-readable media for reducing overhead for Quality-of-service (QoS) monitoring of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) services. The method comprises receiving, at a user equipment, from a serving network, a request for a Quality-of-Service (QoS) monitoring session, making a first determination, at the user equipment, whether the user equipment is relevant for the request, based on the content of the request, making a second determination, at the user equipment, if it is determined in the first determination that the user equipment is relevant, whether the request is received in dedicated signaling or common signaling, deciding, at the user equipment, whether or not to initiate the requested QoS monitoring session based on the second determination.

Abstract: An apparatus in a network node has circuitry configured for causing a scheduling of an uplink transmission for a first user equipment and a downlink reception for a second user equipment on at least one resource, wherein the at least one resource is at least partially shared between the first user equipment and second user equipment. The apparatus has circuitry configured for providing an instruction, to the first user equipment, to transmit a first signal within the at least one resource. The apparatus also has circuitry configured for providing an instruction, to the second user equipment, to detect the first signal within the at least one resource. The apparatus having further circuitry configured for receiving information, from the second user equipment, wherein the information includes an indication of whether the second user equipment has detected the first signal.

Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for remote user equipment direct to indirect path switching in sidelink relay are provided. For example, a method can include receiving, at a user equipment from a network element, a system information block message having an information element to configure monitoring of paging messages at a common paging occasion, which can be configured for user equipment that are in idle or inactive state and that are configured to act as a user-equipment-to-network relay user equipment. The method may also include monitoring a page at the common paging occasion based on the information element. The method may further include sending a random access preamble dedicated to the user equipment in response to the page. The method may additionally include performing a state transition to connected mode only after a response to the random access preamble is received.

Abstract: Techniques for performing sidelink discovery with user equipment (UE) to UE relay are provided. An initiating UE initiates a sidelink discovery solicitation message toward relay UEs and responding UEs. A relay UE can facilitate the discovery between two or more UEs by monitoring for sidelink discovery solicitation messages and sidelink discovery solicitation responses. A responding UE in receipt of a sidelink solicitation message responds toward a relay UE and/or initiating UE via communication method that may depend on various factors. The communication method may include non-unicast communication, such as broadcast or multicast, to reduce signaling overhead in comparison to unicast communication methods.
