Abstract:
An exercise device having a hollow housing that can be fixed to a horizontally disposed support surface by a first external clamp. Extending from the housing is a handle with a first shaft that extends into the housing. Within the housing on the first shaft is a disk fixed to the shaft that rotates with the shaft. As a user rotates the handle its shaft and disk rotate in unison. A resistive force control handle also extends from the housing has its own second shaft extending within the housing. This second shaft mounts a second member consisting of two disk engaging rollers whose resistance to rotation can be adjusted. As the rollers resistance to rotation is increased against the engage disk's surface more force is needed to move the external handle on the disk's shaft. One roller engages the top of the disk while another engages the bottom of the disk. Two pairs of arms are joined at one end to a movable shaft while the other end has a roller at each one of the pairs of arms. The pairs of arms are spaced V-shaped with the apex being opposite the end with the roller. As the control shaft rotates it moves the two pairs of engaged arms to vary their spacing apart and to change the rolling resistance of the rollers against the contacted disk's surface.
Abstract:
Heat-shrinkable sleeves of relatively opaque polymeric material having a relatively transparent integral strip (or other formation) to facilitate positioning of the sleeve on an article about which it is to be shrunk. The opaque portions of the sleeves preferably incorporate sufficient flame-retardant additives to compensate for the absence of such additives from the transparent portions, which transparent portions preferably occupy less of the sleeve surface than the opaque portions.
Abstract:
An intelligent controller for on-line monitoring of circulation system in order to minimize a problem of streaming electrification and to avoid degradation of the electrical insulation of the system. The controller is designed to combine advantages of fuzzy logic and neural networks, and includes a fuzzy logic (employing a pseudo-neural network) for acquiring analog input data from a plurality of sensors and for interpreting this input data into fuzzyfier outputs. A main processor consisting of a fully connected feed-forward neural network serves for processing the fuzzifier outputs in order to obtain controlling instructions for the system.
Abstract:
A surgical rasping system functional in multiple orthopedic applications, including but not limited to shoulder, knee, hip, wrist, ankle, spinal, or other joint procedures. The system comprises a rasping head which may be low profile and offer a flat cutting/rasping surface, and is configured to be driven by an attached hub that translates a rotational movement into a reciprocating motion. Suction for removal of bone fragments or other tissues is provided through an opening spaced apart from or adjacent to the rasping surface.
Abstract:
A power supply system includes a regulator for receiving an input voltage and producing an output voltage, the regulator including an output device and a controller coupled to the regulator. The controller is configured to monitor at least one operating parameter of the output device and, in response, generate a control signal that adjusts the input voltage to a minimum input voltage needed to maintain the output device in saturation regardless of variation in the monitored operating parameter.
Abstract:
The present technology relates to tamper evident films, systems and methods for detecting tamper events in films or film packages. The present technology is especially useful in applications for detecting tamper events with individually packaged goods, as well as with bulk packaging or wrapped pallets in circumstances where visual inspection is hampered or prevented. In one or more preferred systems, films and methods of the present technology utilize a conductive pattern, a sensor and/or alarm circuit, and a wrapping film, such as a stretch film, shrink wrap, bagging or stretchhooder. In at least one particularly preferred embodiment, films of the present technology are stretch films having conductive ink patterns applied thereto that remain conductive when the films are stretched to a percent stretch of about 1% or greater. In other embodiments, a conductive material can be separately wrapped and/or cowrapped in conjunction with a film. Preferred tamper detection systems of the present technology also utilize radio frequency identification technology to indicate whether a tamper event has occurred.
Abstract:
A fiber optic adapter is disclosed. The fiber optic adapter includes a main body configured to receive a first fiber optic connector through a first end and a second fiber optic connector through a second end for mating with the first fiber optic connector. The adapter includes a ferrule alignment structure located within an axial cavity of the main body, the ferrule alignment structure including a sleeve mount and a ferrule sleeve, the sleeve mount including an axial bore and at least one latching hook extending from a center portion of the sleeve mount toward the first end of the main body and at least one latching hook extending from the center portion toward the second end of the main body, the latching hooks configured to flex for releasably latching the first and second fiber optic connectors to the fiber optic adapter. The sleeve mount and the main body of the fiber optic adapter are unitarily molded as a single piece and the ferrule sleeve is separately placed within the axial bore of the sleeve mount.
Abstract:
A fiber access terminal for mounting to the end of a fiber distribution cable and configured to be extended through a buried conduit. The fiber distribution cable may include a plurality of optical fibers and enters a housing of the terminal through a base. The terminal also includes a plurality of fiber optic connectors or adapters extending through the housing in generally the same direction as the fiber distribution cable for connecting to optical fiber customer drop cables. The terminal includes a cover and the housing defining an interior and the interior includes a cable slack storage arrangement providing bend radius protection for the optical fiber cables within the interior. A method of assembling a fiber access terminal. A fiber access terminal assembly including a pedestal mounting arrangement.
