    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In a multilevel encoding scheme, a transmitting device may divide a stream of information bits in a message into multiple substreams, and the transmitting device may input each substream to a different level of an encoder such that each substream is encoded separately. The transmitting device may also input excess bits to some levels of the encoder to add physical layer security to the message. To improve the chances that a receiving device is able to correctly decode the message, the receiving device may be configured to identify the levels at which the excess bits are encoded. Accordingly, the receiving device may be able to decode the information bits in the message and avoid attempting to decode the excess bits in the message as information bits.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration signal indicating a codebook construction configuration for constructing a codebook of sequences for conveying a first type of uplink payload in a resource block that is orthogonal to a second type of uplink payload transmitted from a second UE in the resource block. The UE may construct the codebook of sequences for the first type of uplink payload according to the codebook construction configuration. The UE may generate the first type of uplink payload for transmission using a first sequence from the codebook of sequences. The UE may transmit the first type of uplink payload in the resource block, wherein the first type of uplink payload is multiplexed in the resource block with the second type of uplink payload from the second UE.

    Abstract: Peak to average power ratio (PAPR) reduction with respect to signals of component carriers of a carrier aggregation configuration may be provided using preconfigured or fixed PRT location sequences (e.g., fixing the number and location of PRTs). A device transmitting signals of component carriers of a carrier aggregation configuration may perform PRT magnitude and phase optimization processing with respect to PRTs of a PRT location sequence using techniques, such as may use a signal to clipping noise ratio, tone reservation (SCR-TR) algorithm. Various PRT location sequence configurations, such as PRT sideband location sequence configurations, PRT inband location sequence configurations, etc., may be selected to facilitate reduction of PAPR associated with the data tones of one or more carrier aggregation component carriers, such as to satisfy a PAPR threshold. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.
