Abstract: Techniques are described herein for periodically transmitting a first set of signals (e.g., reference signals) during an on-period of a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle rather than during an off-period of the DRX cycle. Such techniques may enable a user equipment (UE) operating in a DRX mode to conserve additional power during the DRX cycle. A periodicity for transmitting the first set of signals during the on-period may be determined. The periodicity may indicate that every one-in-N DRX cycles, the first set of signals are to be transmitted during the on-period. During other DRX cycles, the first set of signals may be transmitted during the off-period. When the first set of signals are transmitted during the on-period, the UE may refrain from activating certain components during the off-period, thereby conserving power.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a paging configuration may be provided by a base station that indicates one or more occasions during which a user equipment (UE) is to monitor for pages. A location of the paging occasion may be based at least in part on at least one synchronization signal block (SSB) transmitted by the base station. A mapping between a paging occasion index and the location of the paging occasion is indicated in the paging configuration. Paging windows may be configured during downlink slots that contain an SSB transmission. Paging transmissions may use beamforming parameters that are the same as SSB transmission beamforming parameters.

Abstract: An intermediary base station supporting mobile terminal (MT) functionality and/or a user equipment (UE) may receive a time alignment (TA) command and associated timer value from one or more distributed units (DUs) and/or a central unit (CU) of a parent base station. The TA command and timer value may be based on an experienced or potential timer expiration associated with a TA of a communication link. The TA command may specify an updated TA value and a timer reset for scheduling communications on the communication link. In some examples, the TA command may be in response to a TA command request provided by the MT or UE on allocated resources or configurations indicated by the parent base station. In other cases, the TA command may be in response to a random access procedure on allocated resources or configurations indicated by the parent base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may perform a random access (RACH) procedure based on a selected synchronization signal block (SSB). During this RACH procedure, a base station may transmit physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) messages for UE RACH message handling. To receive PDCCH signaling for RACH Messages 2, 3, or 4 (Msg 2/3/4), the UE may identify a set of time resources used by the base station for transmitting SSBs that are not quasi-co-located (QCL) with the selected SSB. The UE may identify a Msg 2/3/4 search space that does not overlap with this identified set of resources, and may monitor this identified search space. The search space may correspond to a modified remaining minimum system information (RMSI) search space indicated by the base station, or a valid RMSI search space not indicated by the base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide a mechanism for a wireless node to identify resources that are controlled by a different wireless node in the wireless backhaul communications network and in some cases autonomously transmit certain transmissions using resources of the different wireless node. A first wireless node may receive signaling that indicates whether such transmissions may be autonomously transmitted via configuration information or a flag provided in signaling to the first wireless node. The first wireless node may in some cases determine that autonomous transmissions are enabled based on a type of communication or node that provides the information for the transmissions from the first wireless node. In some cases, a priority associated with the transmissions may be used to determine whether autonomous transmissions are enabled.

Abstract: A transmit beamforming gain and a receive beamforming gain may be used when adjusting an uplink transmit power. For example, a user equipment (UE) may receive downlink communications from a base station on a receive beam having a beamforming gain that is different from a beamforming gain for an uplink transmit beam. The UE may adjust an uplink transmit power (e.g., for transmitting a random access channel (RACH)) based on a difference in the beamforming gains. For example, a parameter representing the difference in the beamforming gains, in addition to a maximum allowed transmit power, a target preamble received power, and an estimated path loss, may be used when determining an adjusted uplink transmit power for a RACH transmission. The adjustment may result in a higher or lower transmit power depending on the difference in the receive beamforming gain and the transmit beamforming gain.

Abstract: One apparatus may be configured to detect a set of beams from a base station. The apparatus may be further configured to select a beam of the set of beams. The apparatus may be further configured to determine at least one resource based on the selected beam. The apparatus may be further configured to transmit, on the at least one determined resource, a beam adjustment request to the base station. The request may indicate an index associated with the selected beam. Another apparatus may be configured to transmit a first set of beams. The other apparatus may be further configured to receive a beam adjustment request on at least one resource. The other apparatus may be further configured to determine a beam index of a beam in the first set of beams based on the request and the at least one resource.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for partitioning of time-frequency resources for access and backhaul links separately. A centralized scheduler in a centralized system or a set of access nodes (ANs) in a distributed system may allocate a portion of a set of resources for a given link type (e.g., access or backhaul). In some cases, multiple ANs may exchange reports or measurements to determine the resources to allocate to a given link type. The allocated resources may be repurposed for use by a different link type (e.g., access resources may be repurposed and used for backhaul resources) in order to account for varying traffic conditions.

Abstract: A receiving device may remain in omni-directional mode while receiving RTS messages from transmitting devices. Multiple devices may transmit RTS messages at the same time, causing interference and preventing intended recipients of the RTS messages from transmitting a CTS message. To increase medium reuse, RTS may be transmitted and received in a slotted and directional manner. A receiving device may select a sweeping pattern for receiving transmission from neighboring devices. The receiving device may also determine one or more time slots allocated to each of the neighboring devices for receiving transmissions from the neighboring devices. The receiving device may transmit an indication of the sweeping pattern and the time slots to one or more of the neighboring devices. Subsequently, during one of the indicated time slots, the receiving device may perform a beam sweep to receive one or more RTS messages from one of the neighboring devices.
