    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques generally provide for spatially coupled multiple-in multiple-out (MIMO) signaling for a single codeword across multiple layers. A transmitting device may transmit, via multiple time-frequency resources using multiple spatial layers, a set of code blocks associated with a codeword. At a first time-frequency resource, each code block of a first subset of the set of code blocks may be mapped to a respective transmission layer, and at a second time-frequency resource, each code block of a second subset of the set of code blocks may be mapped to a respective transmission layer, where the second set of code blocks is staggered from the first set of code blocks. By staggering code blocks across multiple time-frequency resources, a receiving wireless device may cancel out interference of one or more previously decoded code blocks.

    Abstract: A method of non-coherent wireless communication performed by a wireless communication device includes generating information bits for transmission to another wireless communication device. The method also includes identifying a configuration for a polar code encoder for encoding the information bits. The method further includes encoding a set of the information bits with a polar code encoding operation based on the configuration to generate a codeword, the configuration rendering the polar code encoding operation incapable of generating a codeword that is a bit-flipped counterpart of another codeword that the polar code encoding operation is capable of generating based on the configuration. The method still further includes transmitting the codeword via a wireless channel without a reference signal.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communications, and more particularly, to techniques for allowing for the coexistence of legacy and non-legacy PUCCH formats. An example method generally includes generating a first orthogonal sequence for a first payload for a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) to be transmitted; generating a second orthogonal sequence for a second payload for the PUCCH to be transmitted; mapping the first orthogonal sequence to a first set of virtual resources and the second orthogonal sequence to a second set of virtual resources; mapping the first set of virtual resources to a first set of physical resources and the second set of virtual resources to a second set of physical resources; and transmitting the first and second payloads for the PUCCH on the first and second sets of physical resources.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first UE may receive an inter-UE coordination request from a second UE that requests a resource availability report. The first UE may generate the resource availability report indicating at least one slot that is determined to be available by the first UE based on one or more measurements associated with a plurality of sub-slots within the at least one slot. For example, the first UE may determine that a slot is available based on a reference signal received power value obtained from a measurement of demodulation reference signals associated with each of the plurality of sub-slots. The first UE may transmit an inter-UE coordination message to the second UE indicated the resource availability report.
