Abstract: A user-held or otherwise supported electrosurgical device can include an endpiece, a fixed first coil or other electromagnetic energy transmitter or receiver and a rotatable second coil or other electromagnetic energy transmitter or receiver wirelessly energized by the first coil. The rotatable second coil can be affixed to a rotatable member extending distally from the endpiece. This can permit unrestricted rotation without being encumbered by wiring or electrical contacts across a plane of rotation.

Abstract: A modular endoscope system comprises a first modular section comprising imaging and illumination units, and a patient-insertable second modular section that can be detached to the first modular section via an attachment mechanism, wherein the first modular section is positionable at a distal end section of the second modular section and is configured to illuminate and image a portion of a patient anatomy. A method of using a modular endoscopy system comprises attaching a first modular section of the modular endoscopy system to a second modular section of the modular endoscopy system, positioning at least a portion of the modular endoscopy system within a patient, illuminating and imaging a portion of a patient anatomy via the first modular section, removing the modular endoscopy system from the patient, and detaching the second modular section from the first modular section after removal of the modular endoscopy system from the patient.

Abstract: Disclosed embodiments include apparatuses, systems, and methods for conveying implements through a narrow passage in a body. In an illustrative embodiment, an insertion tube defines therein lumens and is configured to slide through an orifice and into a passageway to a target tissue. A first probe is connectable to a power source, is slidably receivable through one of the lumens, and has a distal end insertable into the target tissue. An imaging probe is connectable to an imaging device configured to collect imaging data at a distal end, is slidable through one of the lumens not receiving the first probe, and is positionable to collect imaging data at a distal end of the insertion tube. A second probe is connectable to the power source, is slidably receivable through one of the lumens not receiving the first probe, and has a distal end insertable into the target tissue.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for identifying different structure types with distinct composition in vivo and adjusting surgical laser output accordingly in a medical procedure are disclosed. An exemplary laser treatment system comprises a laser system configured to generate a laser beam for delivery to a target in a body, and a controller circuit configured to receive a signal reflected from the target in response to electromagnetic radiation produced by a light source, and generate one or more spectroscopic properties from the reflected signal. The controller circuit can identify the target as one of a plurality of structure types, such as tissue types or calculi types with respective compositions, using the one or more spectroscopic properties. The laser system can be controlled to operate in an operating mode based on the target identification.

Abstract: A multifiber assembly and methods of using the same in an endoscopic procedure for transmitting illumination light to, and a response signal reflected from, a target is disclosed. An exemplary device comprises a proximal end, and distal end, and a transition section between the proximal and distal ends. The proximal end includes a first connector to be connected to a light source and a second connector configured to be connected to a spectrometer. The distal end includes a shaft including at least two first optical fibers to transmit light and at least one second optical fiber to transmit a spectroscopic signal. The transition section can couple the first connector to the at least two first optical fibers, and to couple the second connector to the at least one second optical fiber.
