Abstract:
Disclosed is a three-dimensional ad-hoc tracking system and method between two or more devices at a location. The disclosed systems and methods can be implemented on commodity mobile devices with no added components and require no cross-device calibration, in order to track surrounding devices. Such tracking can be achieved by fusing three types of signals: 1) the strength of Bluetooth low energy signals reveals the presence and rough distance between devices; 2) a series of inaudible acoustic signals and the difference in their arrival times produces a set of accurate distances between devices, from which 3D offsets between the devices can be derived; and 3) the integration of dead reckoning from the orientation and acceleration sensors of all devices at a location to refine the estimate and to support quick interactions between devices. The disclosed systems and methods can be implemented by cross-device applications on mobile devices.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a system, method and computer program for enabling a user (an auditor or a viewer) to access complementary information related to one or a plurality of sequences or topics of interest in a recorded program previously broadcast on the radio or television and played back on a device, such as an audio or video tape or disk recorder/player. The preferred embodiment of the invention relates to a system and method for enabling a person listening to or watching a recorded program, to select one or a plurality of topics drawing his or her attention and for immediately receiving further information related to these topics from the World Wide Web. The system is based on the synchronization of local times of transmitters and recorders. The flow of information transmitted, received and recorded is always synchronized, independently of the relative positions of recorders and transmitters.
Abstract:
Provided herein is a system or method for a native advertisement selection and formatting module operable to monitor displayable content and store characteristic-related information relating to the monitored content, including keyword-related information and format-related information, utilize one or more machine learning-based algorithms, analyze the characteristic-related information relating to the monitored content, including the keyword-related information and the format-related information, and based in part on the analysis, output detailed contextual settings, and select and format native advertisements to be displayed in visual association with the displayable content, based in part on the detailed contextual settings.
Abstract:
A method and system for recommending content to a user whose interest(s) has not been identified is disclosed. A base user profile may be created for association with the user. The base user profile may be created by generating a list of ranked interests of a set of representative users. The list of ranked interests may be generated based on activity information obtained for the set of representative users. Content may be recommended to the user based on the base user profile.
Abstract:
Method, system, and programs for providing a user interface are disclosed. In one example, a plurality of candidate user interfaces is determined. Each candidate user interface is associated with one or more parameters related to a user interface. Each of the plurality of candidate user interfaces is provided to a subset of users selected from the plurality of users. Inputs are obtained from the plurality of users with respect to each of the plurality of candidate user interfaces. One or more candidate user interfaces are selected from the plurality of candidate user interfaces based on the inputs. A new candidate user interface is generated based on the selected one or more candidate user interfaces. A user interface is identified based on the new candidate user interface and the selected one or more candidate user interfaces. The identified user interface is provided to the plurality of users.
Abstract:
A device, system, and method are directed towards enabling a network application to process and respond to requests from client devices. A rules engine receives a page, evaluates a set of rules, and performs actions based on the rules. Actions may modify the page or perform other actions affecting the environment. A rules engine may also process rules prior to processing pages, in order to optimize subsequent evaluation of the rules.
Abstract:
Software receives a communication from a smart-television device. The communication includes a device identifier for the smart-television device and a geo-location for the smart-television device. The geo-location results from collaborative location detection that uses stored geo-positions previously received from one or more mobile devices positioned proximate to the smart-television device. The software causes the smart-television device to display a first view that includes a visual icon and a message identifying a connected-television service. The software receives a geo-position for a mobile device. Upon determining that the geo-location of the smart-television device is proximate to the geo-position of the mobile device, the software causes the mobile device to display a second view that includes the visual icon. The software receives a communication from the mobile device that indicates a match between the visual icon in the first view and the visual icon in the second view and connects the devices.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for generation of a relationship history or text for a new message. In one embodiment, a method includes: scanning, by a computing device, a set of messages to or from a user to generate a plurality of profiles for persons associated with the messages, each person being a sender or a recipient of at least one of the set of messages, and the persons including a first person; generating, via the computer, a relationship history using the plurality of profiles, wherein the relationship history is for a relationship between the user and the first person; and presenting the relationship history to the user.
Abstract:
Access requests to a database are monitored for average time taken to fulfill the requests and whether a queue of unfulfilled requests is building up beyond an acceptable threshold. When the queue has built up beyond the acceptable threshold and/or when the average time taken to fulfill the requests has exceeded a delay threshold value, database access requests may be rejected. In one advantageous aspect, a graceful degradation in performance may be achieved by selectively rejecting access requests of a lower priority and favoring access requests of a higher priority for execution.
