    摘要: The impulse drive mechanism has a drive pawl which is periodically retracted sufficiently to engage a tooth at maximum tooth spacing to advance the sequence control cam a maximum step. If a lesser step is desired (can be used) the ratchet tooth spacing is decreased and the masking device which incorporates a follower engaging the cam on the inside of the ratchet is moved into position to prevent engagement of the pawl with a tooth at greater spacing. The cam drum can be advanced in small angular increments when only tolling time and the angular increment can be increased to accomodate sequential switching during the advance step if required.

    摘要: A pawl and ratchet drive for the take-up spool of a motion picture camera or motion picture projector, the pawls being driven through a form-locking train including a pair of jaws spring-urged toward each other, embracing a driven pin on a pawl carrier. When the film has been wound to the desired tension, the driving mechanism can continue its normal full stroke without causing full stroke movement of the driven pin on the pawl carrier, so that the film is not wound too tight. In one embodiment, a pair of driving pawls are pivotally mounted on the pawl carrier. In another embodiment, the two pawls are integral with a pawl ring which is swingably mounted on the pawl carrier.

    摘要: A timer includes a disc-type of cam having circular tracks thereon for coaction with switches, all carried by a housing. A motor is mounted on the housing and has an eccentric that acts through a drive pawl on a series of peripheral teeth on the cam. A stop pawl is included which is pivotally mounted for movement about the rotational axis of the eccentric. The eccentric can rotate in either direction to produce incremental movements of the timing cam in one direction, and the pawls can be reversely mounted for use with an appropriate timing cam to produce timing cam movements in the opposite direction. The motor and eccentric can be removed without disturbing the assembled relation of the remainder of the device, such as for factory testing.

    摘要: Depressing one of the cycle selection switches sets up a circuit through the shaded pole motor to drive the timer at high speed until the wiper on the end of the cam arbor finds an open circuit on the printed circuit board. During the high speed advance of the timer, the machine circuits are de-energized and, upon finding the open circuit, the shaded pole motor is de-energized, the machine circuits are energized, and the timer drive motor is actuated to sequence the timer through the selected cycle. The stepping mechanism is operated by the slow rise fast drop cam operating a pawl which engages the ratchet teeth on the cam arbor. Particularly during high speed advance, there may be a tendency for the arbor to overstep and, therefore, the pawl, in effect, is a double pawl or verge which jams two teeth at the conclusion of a step. This locks the ratchet in the stepcompleted position. Switching during an interval is accomplished by means of cams associated with the stepping cam and actuating sub-interval switches. This enables the performance of various functions during an interval of the timer. This type of timer is generally referred to as a power timer.
