Abstract:
An electrophoretic display keypad structure utilizes a whole piece of electrophoretic display film to show a plurality of figures for keys. The electrophoretic display film is disposed on a printed circuit board having a patterned electrode and sealed by a sealant or a sealing material applied to entire periphery of the electrophoretic display film for preventing humidity or pollution, thereby to display excellent figures and be made relatively easily. The figures displayed may be changed by selecting a desired mode, and users may accordingly easily choose desired figures for pressing the keys.
Abstract:
A method and device for providing a display having increased viewability are provided. The display assembly includes a backlight layer, an electrochromic layer formed over the backlight layer, a surface layer formed over the electrochromic layer and including at least one substantially translucent graphical element thereon, and a power supply. The electrochromic layer is switchable between a substantially transparent state and a substantially reflective state upon application of a switching voltage from the power supply, where the state being selected is based on a lighting condition of the display assembly.
Abstract:
A button device having display functionality is disclosed. The display buttons have button mechanisms, which, when depressed actuate a switch, creating a signal detected by electronics for the button device. Each button is configured to display an image, which can be changed by a display driver. Accordingly, the display button device can dynamically change the image associated with each button and can correspondingly change the function of each button.
Abstract:
A keypad and a keypad assembly are disclosed. The keypad includes a light guide layer, inside which light travels and electronic paper which is illuminated by light irradiated from the light guide layer and expresses at least one symbol by reflection of the light.
Abstract:
Provided is a button input device using electronic paper (E-paper). The button input device includes: a button including a transparent window and at least one base portion downwardly protruding from an outer edge of the window; the E-paper including a display region disposed under the window, and at least one hole disposed outside the display region and allowing the base portion of the button to be inserted thereinto; an elastic member disposed under the E-paper and elastically deformed by the base portion of the button when the button is pressed; and a switch circuit board including a switch disposed under the elastic member at a position corresponding to a lower end of the base portion of the button and generating a signal when the button is pressed.
Abstract:
Described is changing the perceived appearance of a switch by writing content (e.g., an icon) to a switch assembly to change the context of the switch based upon a hardware device's current operating context and/or by changing the perceived color of the switch based upon the hardware device's current operating context. The switch may be layered, for example, with a transparent cover associated with a light guide that can change color via a controlled LED, a writeable surface and an underlying switch (e.g., physical or capacitive sensed) mechanism. Upon detecting interaction with a user interface, the appearance of a switch is based on a current context of the user interface. The system includes means for writing to the writeable surface so that it corresponds to the current context of the program.
Abstract:
A decorative light-transmittance sheet type key top of a pushbutton that presents an uniform, massive and brilliant luster, to not take much working time in production, and to aim at a simplification of the work process, which is integrally formed with a transmittance plastic film curved according to the shape of a top face side of the key top body, a decorative transmittance key top is constituted to reflect selectively light with a given wavelength and present transmittance brilliant color by providing cholesteric liquid crystal layer made of liquid crystal polymer on a surface side and/or the back side of the film.

Abstract:
An addressable display system including a paper-like sheet comprising a light transparent host layer loaded with a plurality of repositionable elements, the elements are movable from a first orientation in which they will present a first visual appearance, to a second orientation in which they will present a second visual appearance, and independent external addressing means relatively movable with respect to the display sheet for affecting the orientation of the repositionable elements.
Abstract:
A display system in which the display panel is comprised of a plurality of particles which have an electrical anisotropy due to hemispherical surface coatings of different Zeta potential and their distribution in a volume of a dielectric liquid, and which also have an optical anisotropy due to the hemispherical surface coatings having different optical characteristics which may be due to the color or other optical properties of the hemispherical coatings. Under the action of an external electric field, the particles will rotate in accordance with their electrical anisotropy to provide a display in accordance with their optical anisotropy. The display has switching threshold and memory capabilities.
