Abstract:
A temperature-controlled storage system has a compartment with a front wall containing a first heat exchanger, a heat pump for transferring heat to or removing heat from the first heat exchanger and a removable, portable container nested in the compartment such that a second heat exchanger provided in a front wall of the container is in thermal communication with the first heat exchanger. By controlling the operation of the heat pump, the insides of the container can be cooled or heated as desired.
Abstract:
The apparatus is a heat exchange unit for cooling interior rooms of commercial and/or residential structures. The unit includes a compressor and blower mounted within a base. A lid of the base has an elongated heat exchange tube mounted thereon. The heat exchange tube has an interior liner with a coil structure mounted to the outside surface thereof. An outer liner enclosed the interior liner and associated coil structure. Both the interior and exterior liners are composed of a perforated metallic material. The vertical heat exchange tube is enclosed with a baffle at the top portion thereof. The baffle functions to force air moving upward to travel in an outward and downward direction toward the base and outside of the liners through the perforations. In an alternative embodiment, the vertical heat exchange tube may include a intermediate tube mounted between the interior and exterior tubes. The intermediate tube also has coils wrapped about the perimeters. In general, the unit with two liners is designed to be a lower capacity unit than the unit with three liners. Accordingly, the unit may be expanded for greater efficiency designs by increasing the surface area of the coil structure, and by serially connecting multiple units.
Abstract:
A prepackaged food vending machine limited cooling apparatus and method for food vending machines of the type used for storing and dispensing prepackaged foods at normal room temperatures. The apparatus includes an elongated air conduit connected at one end thereof to, and in airflow communication with an interior of, the food vending machine. Another end of the air conduit connected to, and in airflow communication with a refrigerated interior of, a cold beverage vending machine. An airflow device, e.g. a blower or axial fan, is positioned in air flow communication between the interiors of the food and beverage vending machines whereby cold air within the beverage vending machine is transferred through the air conduit to the interior of the food vending machine in an airflow volume sufficient to reduce the air temperature within the food vending machine to a predetermined temperature below room temperature toward the operating temperature within the interior of the refrigerated beverage vending machine.
Abstract:
A portable liquid chilling system for chilling and disinfecting the liquid of each and every independent desired container, comprising: a refrigeration unit, a pipe having an intake liquid section, taking the liquid from a container, a liquid cooling section held to and passing trough said refrigeration unit, for chilling the liquid circulating through said liquid cooling section, and a liquid returning section, for returning the chilled liquid to said container; a liquid pump connected to the flexible pipe, for pumping the liquid from the container, through the pipe and returning it to the container; a bactericide dispenser connected to the pipe for dispensing a bactericide substance to the liquid, and a liquid filter connected to the pipe, for filtering and retiring any solid form the liquid.
Abstract:
A refrigerated food pan assembly is disclosed which includes food pans which rest within an inner channel through a mounting lip. The assembly includes an outer channel separated from the inner channel by insulation. Refrigeration coils are in thermal conduction with the inner channel to cool food kept within the food pans. A cold air plenum with outlet vents extends along the inner channel to blow cold air toward and between the food pans. Fan arrangements draw cold air through louvers from within the inner channel and direct the cold air into the plenum. An upper refrigeration coil provides additional cooling to the top surface of food in the food pans, and a warming coil may also be provided to prevent the rim or lip of the outer channel from accumulating frost.
Abstract:
A multiplex system is disclosed for maintaining the temperature of a product during a warehouse and distribution process employing a vehicle. The multiplex system may include a plurality of temperature control zones at which it is desired to maintain the temperature of the product. A cargo temperature control zone includes a parking area for a number of delivery vehicles having cargo containers. A primary refrigeration system is utilized to refrigerate a secondary fluid which is a non-compressible fluid that may be pumped over long distances to the cargo temperature control zone, as well as other temperature control zones. The secondary refrigerated fluid is pumped to air handling units which are advantageously disposed is heat exchange relationships to create and deliver refrigerated air into the cargo container of one or more parked delivery vehicles. If the air handling unit is inside the container, an expansion tank may be provided inside the cargo container for accommodating the hydraulic expansion of secondary fluid in the event the inside temperature becomes elevated. A main supply and return line system connected a fluid distribution center to the temperature control zone which includes a reverse-return line. Auxiliary, flexible supply and return lines are connected to the main supply and return lines and include fluid couplings for quick connection to the cargo containers.
Abstract:

Refrigeration is provided operatively associated with the compartment for maintaining a selected temperature therein including at least one of (1) transparent cooling coils above the shelf with a cooling medium flowing therethrough, and (2) cooling within the shelf with a cooling medium therein, whereby a cooled, temperature controlled environment is provided for the products.
Abstract:
A device for maintaining a layer of cooled air over a work area, comprising a zone for processing, presentation or laying out food, said zone having an upper surface, a lower surface, a front edge where a user is optionally positioned, and lateral edges, said zone being upwardly open and in contact on its upper and lower surfaces with a layer of cooled air, a means for generating a flow of cooled air to create a layer of cooled air, an air flow channeling circuit comprising a flow delivery opening above the zone, a recovery opening to capture the air flow passing over the zone, and a flow circulation conduit connecting the delivery and recovery openings, the flow circulation conduit passing below the lower surface of the zone, wherein the air flow delivery and recovery openings are disposed laterally so that the air flow circulates between the openings, and wherein the air flow circulation conduit has a substantially horizontal section delimited on its upper part by the lower surface of the zone and is attached laterally to two elbows for reorientation of the air flow, one of said elbows terminating at the delivery opening and the other of said elbows terminating at the recovery opening, both elbows situated substantially at the same height above the opposite lateral extremities of the zone, and wherein the zone has a work surface bordered by a removable strip for holding accessories.
Abstract:
