摘要: A non-twisted, heather yarn is formed of a plurality of major yarn bundles at least one of which is of a substantially different color from the remaining bundles. Each major yarn bundle is formed of a multiplicity of continuous filaments and has from about 10 to about 90 percent of its filaments cohering to form secondary bundles with the remaining filaments of each major bundle varying in number along the length of the yarn, being interlaced with other major bundles of the yarn, and being randomly located about the yarn axis. Each of the secondary bundles in each unit length of the yarn of about 6 inches has a portion thereof formed of greater than about 30 percent of the filaments of its major bundle and each of the secondary bundles in each unit length of yarn of about 8 inches is non-uniformly, differently oriented relative to the yarn axis.

摘要: A STUFFER BOX CRIMPER AND METHOD FOR CRIMPING FILAMENTARY MATERIAL, PARTICULARLY YARNS OF CONTINUOUS SYNTHETIC ORGANIC FILAMENTS, WHEREIN THE YARN IS CRIMPED AND UNIFORMLY WITHDRAWN FROM THE CRIMPER WITH A MINIMUM OF TENSION VARIATION. YARN FED TO THE APPARATUS IS COMPACTED AGAINST DOCTOR BLADES WHICH FORM OPPOSING SIDEWALLS OF THE STUFFER CHAMBER AND FRONT AND BACK PLATES WHICH COMPLETE THE STUFFER CHAMBER. THE YARN PROCEEDS THROUGH THE CHAMBER PACKED AGAINST THE CONFINING DOCTOR BLADES. THE DOCTOR BLADES DIVERGE A PREDETERMINED FRICTION-REDUCING AMOUNT WHILE BACK PRESSURE PRODUCING MEANS IN THE FRONT AND/OR BACK PLATE CALLED STABILIZERS, CONVERGE ON THE CONFINED YARN IN THE CHAMBER IN A DIRECTION GENERALLY PARALLEL TO THE DOCTOR BLADES AND AT AN

ANGLE OF 45 TO 135 DEGREES THERETO, THEREBY CHANGING THE FRICTIONAL IMPEDIMENT ON THE YARN FROM THE DOCTOR BLADES TO THE STABILIZER. THE CO-ACTION OF THE DOCTOR BLADES AND THE STABILIZER RESULTS IN THE FREE RELEASE OF CRIMPED YARN FROM THE CHAMBER IN A SMOOTH MANNER, THEREBY REDUCING VARIATIONS IN THE YARN TO A LEVEL SUITABLE FOR THE PIECE DYEING OF PRODUCTS PRODUCED THEREFROM WITH A MINIMUM OF DYE VARIABILITY.

摘要: A method and apparatus for producing a high-strength and low-shrinkage synthetic flat yarn. After melt spinning, the filaments are combined to a yarn and drawn. Subsequently, the yarn is compressed to form a plug under the influence of heat. This plug is transported over a certain distance, so that the yarn relaxes in a low-tension state and under the influence of the increased temperature. Finally the plug is disentangled under tension to form the flat yarn, which is wound into a package.

摘要: An apparatus and a method for texturing blended synthetic multifilament yarns, wherein the blended yarns are each produced in parallel from a plurality of individual yarn components. The individual yarn components are withdrawn and drawn by a withdrawal means, with a guide means being associated to the withdrawal means for combining the individual yarns to the blended yarns. The blended yarns are separately textured, and to obtain for each of the blended yarns a combination of the individual yarn components that is as identical as possible, the individual yarn components are divided into groups, with each group being reciprocated by one of a plurality of individually controlled traversing yarn guides. The groups of the individual yarn components are guided independently of one another while being reciprocated, with each of the individual yarn components per group being respectively associated to the blended yarns.

摘要: A for the production of polymeric fibers in the form of a tow includes drawing and heat setting, with and without crimping, in which the tow has a constant denier per inch during the processing. The process permits very large drawn tows to be produced having a thickness of at least 150,000 denier per inch of width during processing through the production equipment/apparatus. The production apparatus includes a conventional stacker, followed by drawing apparatus, followed by heat setting apparatus, and optionally followed by crimping apparatus. Positioning the stacker before the drawing apparatus allows very large tows to be produced using drawing and heat setting apparatus having rolls significantly shorter than is conventionally known.
