Abstract:
A tire condition monitoring device mounted on a wheel assembly with a tire and executing wireless signaling to a vehicle body, includes an electric circuit further including a sensor detecting a condition of the tire and a wireless circuit executing wireless signaling to transmit results of detection by the sensor, a DC power supply supplying power to the electric circuit, a pair of power lines connecting the DC power supply and the electric circuit to each other, and inductor elements connected to the paired power lines respectively.
Abstract:
An electronic tire maintenance system is provided for measuring a parameter of a device at a first location. The system includes a sensor for measuring the device parameter and generating a data signal representing the measured parameter. The system also includes a microprocessor coupled to the sensor for activating the sensor on a first periodic basis to measure the device parameter. The microprocessor includes a memory for storing the generated data signal representing the measured parameter. A transmitter and a receiver are coupled to the microprocessor. The microprocessor periodically partially awakens to determine, on a second periodic basis, if a received transmission is a valid interrogation signal and, if so, fully awakens and responds to the valid interrogation signal, via the transmitter, by at least transmitting the last stored measured parameter. In one embodiment, the device is a tire tag mounted inside a tire that measures tire data and transmits that data to a remote source in response to an interrogation request, an alert condition, or automatically on a periodic basis.
Abstract:
An antenna coupled to a wireless communication device that is comprised of a series of conductive elements that form a conductor when placed under a force. The conductor is coupled to a wireless communication device to provide an antenna so that the wireless communication device is capable of communicating at an operating frequency defined by the length and construction of the conductor. The wireless communication device, through its communication using the conductor as an antenna, acts as an indicator of force to an interrogation reader when the wireless communication device is capable of communicating to the interrogation reader using the conductor as an antenna.
Abstract:
A wireless tire pressure monitoring device has a detecting device and an air tap bonded to the detecting device. The detecting device has a flat box, in which an emitting circuit board is received, and a lid to close the box, and the air tap has a tube, a cover on a free end of the tube and a bolt, in which air flows, to secure an end the tube on a middle section of the box of the detecting device, such that the detecting device and the air tap are mounted between a rim and a tire. An aerial is embedded in the box of the detecting device to combine the aerial and the box as a single element.
Abstract:
A tire assembly with integrated electronic components includes a tire structure and an integrated electronics assembly, which preferably includes at least a radio frequency (RF) device and a multi-frequency antenna that enables wireless communication in at least first and second resonant frequency bands. Such multi-frequency antenna further comprises at least first and second antenna wires connected to the RF device, thus facilitating the transmission of RF signals which may include information such as tire identification information or measured condition information such as tire temperature, pressure, and other characteristics. The first and second antenna wires preferably function together as at least two dipole antennas, for example, two half-wave dipole antennas, or one half-wave dipole antenna and one three-half-wave dipole antenna. A two-wire configuration may be more readily implemented and also designed to reduce strains concentrated at the connection point(s) between the RF device and the antenna wires.
Abstract:
Measuring system for measuring at least one parameter indicative of the state of the tires of a vehicle, which comprises on each wheel a detector (12) having a parameter sensor (13) and an antenna (15) tuned to a defined frequency, and which comprises a central data processing unit (24) coupled by individual wire links (22) to fixed antennas that are installed near the wheels equipped with sensors. Each parameter sensor comprises a transponder associated with a capacitor to store the power from the associated fixed antenna. At least one of the fixed and mobile antennas is configured in such a way that the link with the other antenna corresponding to the same wheel is substantially independent of the angular position of the wheel.
Abstract:
A wireless communication device coupled to a wave antenna that provides greater increased durability and impedance matching. The wave antenna is a conductor that is bent in alternating sections to form peaks and valleys. The wireless communication device is coupled to the wave antenna to provide wireless communication with other communication devices, such as an interrogation reader. The wireless communication device and wave antenna may be placed on objects, goods, or other articles of manufacture that are subject to forces such that the wave antenna may be stretched or compressed during the manufacture and/or use of such object, good or article of manufacture. The wave antenna, because of its bent structure, is capable of stretching and compressing more easily than other structures, reducing the wireless communication device's susceptibility to damage or breaks that might render the wireless communication device coupled to the wave antenna unable to properly communicate information wirelessly.
Abstract:
An annular antenna loop is electrically coupled to a transponder. The antenna and the transponder are at least partially embedded into a non-conductive carrier strip to form a ring assembly to render the antenna and transponder package unitarily transportable. The annular assembly affixes to a tire in a post-manufacture attachment procedure and at a location that minimizes exposure of the annular apparatus to strain and to electromagnetic interference from the metallic wheel rim.
