摘要： A vertical baler includes a horizontally disposed floor plate having an arched surface for receiving material to be compacted thereon. A compression plate is mounted for reciprocating vertical movement with respect to the floor plate, and left and right hydraulic pistons carried outside the wall of the baler are operably attached between the floor plate and the compression plate for reciprocating the compression plate relative to the floor plate. Material placed between the arched floor plate and the compression plate is compacted and formed with an arched bottom surface for ease in sliding fork elements of a lift truck thereunder. Once compacted and tied, the bale is pushed from the compaction chamber by pusher tabs vertically extending from a rear edge of the floor plate which is operable for horizontal reciprocation causing biasing of the pusher tabs against the material in a horizontal pushing of the bale from the chamber onto an adjacent floor surface. To enhance formation of the bale having a desired arched bottom shape, struts are carried on a top surface of the floor plate for forming a depression within the bale formed during the compression of the material. Yet further shaping of the bale is provided by a pair of opposing struts extending along opposing edges of the compression plate, for providing enhanced compression of the material along lower opposing edge portions of the floor plate.

An L-shaped support is provided in the compaction chamber for supporting a container into which trash is to be compacted. The support has a bottom member formed with a pair of grooves and the bottom wall of the compaction chamber, over which stands the support, is provided with a pair of projecting elements snugly fitting into the grooves. The latter as well as the projecting elements have a right angular wedge shape in a plane perpendicular to the upright rear wall of the support with one side of the right angle facing away from the rear wall.

摘要： A method and apparatus for the disposal of solid and liquid medical waste that is to be ultimately autoclaved prior to final disposal, to be used in conjunction with existing equipment already present in medical facilities. The device provides an apparatus capable of collecting solid medical waste while permitting the exit of liquid medical waste. An outer shell includes removable porous holding apparatus inserted therein for holding and compacting solid waste for subsequent autoclaving, while simultaneously permitting the exit of liquid waste into a separate collection vessel for subsequent autoclaving. Alternatively, a porous inner shell is placed within an outer shell to define a drainage chamber, for draining liquid waste separated from the solid waste that is introduced into the inner chamber, so that the liquid medical waste may be externally collected for autoclaving. The solid waste is compacted within the inner chamber and released from the device, via an integral mechanism, for collection in an external cannister prior to autoclaving.

摘要： A cabinet has an upper portion which encloses a ram member movable vertically by a motor driven scissor-type actuator from an upper retracted position to a lower extended compacting position within a container positioned within the lower portion of the cabinet. The container is molded of a plastics material and is supported by a two-wheeled cart including pivotal arms which extend around an intermediate portion of the container and are locked together for restraining the container during compacting. When the container is tilted by the cart into a compacting position under the ram member, the container actuates a sealing frame which lowers and engages the upper rim of the container for confining within the upper portion of the cabinet any odors released by the material being compacted within the container.

摘要： A baling press for the production of bound bales of scrap material such as refuse is of the kind which comprises a press box, a press plunger which is movable through the press box to compress refuse fed to the box from a hopper the outlet of which is closed by the plunger as the plunger moves through the press box in a pressing stroke, a press channel which forms an extension of the press box and into which the pressed bales are pushed by the plunger and a binding mechanism disposed between the press box and the press channel for binding the bales as they are pushed into the channel. The press is provided with a separator slide which is movable transversely to the direction of movement of the press plunger and is disposed between the press box and the press channel just upstream of the binding mechanism considered in relation to the direction of pressing movement of the plunger. The slide is movable between an operative position in the path of the plunger and a retracted position clear of this path. When in its operative position, the slide forms at one side an abutment against which the plunger presses the scrap material and has at the other side grooves formed through it for the passage of parts of a binding mechanism to enable a bale on the downstream side of the slide to be bound as it enters the channel.

摘要： A waste compacting apparatus includes a compactor housing with a vertically reciprocating ram mounted in its upper portion. A waste inlet is provided in the middle portion of the compactor housing for receiving waste, and the received waste is fed into a removable waste receptacle located in the lower portion of the compacting housing. Waste compaction takes place when the vertically reciprocating ram is driven down into the receptacle in the lower portion of the housing. The waste receptacle is horizontally slidable from a first position within the compactor housing, in which compacting takes place, to a second position outside the housing, during which the receptacle is unloaded. A vertically reciprocating sleeve is mounted within the housing, surrounding the ram, and has a waste inlet aperture in its upper portion. The sleeve extends downward from an upper position, in which the housing waste inlet is blocked by the sleeve, to a lower position, in which the waste inlet of the housing and the waste inlet aperture of the sleeve are aligned to permit waste to enter the sleeve and the lower portion of the sleeve extends into the lower portion of the housing within the removable waste receptacle. In this manner the sleeve protects the receptacle as the ram is extended downward to compact the waste within the receptacle. Both the ram and sleeve may be provided with slidably contacting shearing knives, so that any waste trapped between the ram and sleeve will be sheared off and will not jam the compaction apparatus.

摘要： A trash compactor includes a container and a ram for compacting waste materials deposited therein, and a reusable liner positioned within the container receives the waste material, and facilitates removal of the waste material after compaction thereof. The liner has interfitting sections each with upstanding sidewalls and a bottom wall with one side wall of each of the sections being shortened to permit their ready assembly and disassembly. A tubular bag of seamless plastic sheet material having one sealed end is placed in the liner. The bag has a cuff portion which folds over the upper end of the liner and the container. Holes in the cuff portion engage buttons on the exterior of the container. The bag is longer than the liner depth to permit the sealed bag end to bunch in the bottom of the liner, and when a bag of compacted trash is removed, the material drops to the sealed end of the bag leaving an excess at the cuff portion for closing the open end of the bag. The holes may then provide a means for engaging a tie to close the bag.
