Abstract: Techniques are described herein to secure a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) control protocol data unit (PDU). A base station may determine a security configuration for a PDCP control PDU based on various factors including the content of the PDCP control PDU. For example, the security configuration of the PDCP control PDU may be applied because the PDCP control PDU includes a retransmission request. A counter dedicated to PDCP control PDUs may be initialized. The security protocols may be based on the dedicated counter. Some types of security parameters may be shared in some contexts such as in handover procedures or dual connectivity procedures. For example, security configurations associated with a second communication link may be based on security configurations associated with a first communication link. PDCP control PDUs may be secured based on the security configurations, the security parameters, protection keys, or combinations thereof.

Abstract: Techniques are described for operating procedures associated with packet duplication. A packet data protocol convergence protocol (PDCP) entity of a transmitting device may duplicate a received packet to form a set of copied packets. Each packet in the set of copied packets may include the information of the received packet. Each packet of the set of copied packets may be transmitted using a different radio link control (RLC) entity. Procedures are described for configuring duplication bearers. Procedures are described for activating or deactivating packet duplication. Procedures are described for handling RLC entities at deactivation. Procedures are described for discarding some duplicate packets after a packet has been successfully decoded by a receiving device. Procedures are described for delaying transmission of duplicate packets to improve efficient use of communication resources. Procedures are described for buffer status report (BSR) reporting for duplication bearers.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing transport block boundary flexibility are disclosed. In some aspects, a transmitter determines a plurality of blocks within a single transmission time interval (TTI), and transmits the plurality of blocks within the single TTI. Each of the plurality of blocks spans over a pre-defined period of time that is shorter than the single TTI. Each of the plurality of blocks includes data having a same logic channel identifier and a same header. A leading boundary and a trailing boundary of each of the plurality of blocks are aligned with one of: a leading boundary and a trailing boundary of a symbol; or a leading boundary and a trailing boundary of a code block. In additional aspects, a receiver receives these plurality of blocks within a single transmission time interval (TTI), and decodes a plurality of protocol data units in the plurality of blocks.

Abstract: A wireless device may receive a radio link control (RLC) protocol data unit (PDU) from a lower layer (e.g., from a media access control (MAC) layer) when processing communications (e.g., packets) received from another wireless device. The receiving wireless device may identify that the PDU is an RLC service data unit (SDU) segment based at least in part on an indication corresponding to a sequence number associated with the RLC SDU segment. The receiving wireless device may then determine that the RLC SDU segment is received out of order based on previously received PDUs or previously received RLC SDU segments, and initiate a reassembly timer based on the out of order determination for the RLC SDUs. If the remaining RLC SDU segments (e.g., that complete the RLC SDU) are received before reassembly timer expires, the wireless device may reassemble the RLC SDU to be passed to a higher layer.
