Abstract: An electromagnetic transducer, such as an audio speaker, having a voicecoil disposed within a magnetic gap between a pair of magnetic arrays, e.g., Halbach arrays, is disclosed. In an example, the paired Halbach arrays include vertically-poled magnets to direct magnetic flux across the magnetic gap orthogonal to electrical current carried by a planar winding of the voicecoil. Accordingly, a Lorentz force may drive an oscillational mass, e.g., a speaker diaphragm, in a longitudinal direction orthogonal to the magnetic flux and the electrical current to generate vibration or sound. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Abstract: Implementations of the subject technology provide occupant-based audio for enclosed environments. For example, an apparatus having an enclosure and one or more speakers may determine a location and/or an identity of an occupant within an enclosed environment defined by the enclosure, and operate the one or more speakers to provide audio output to the location of the occupant. The apparatus may also operate the one or more speakers to reduce the audio output to one or more other locations within the enclosure, such as to one or more non-occupant locations and/or to one or more locations of one or more other occupants. The audio output may be occupant-specific audio output, such as a personalized notifications, in one or more implementations.

Abstract: A wearable display system includes a housing, a display module positioned within the housing and including a lens and a display panel, and a seal extending between the housing and the display module. The seal is configured to allow relative movement between the lens and the display panel to adjust focus of the display panel. In one aspect, the seal includes first and second segments with generally linear configurations and a third segment with an arcuate configuration that is positioned between the first and second segments. In another aspect, the seal includes a first portion with an arcuate configuration and a second portion with a linear configuration and a bellows portion. In another aspect, the seal includes corrugations to facilitate controlled deformation of the seal during relative movement of the display module.
