Abstract: An electronic device can include plug connectors and receptacle connectors for providing connections between components of the electronic device. A receptacle connector for an electronic device can include a cavity configured to receive a plug connector; a latch extending at least partially into the cavity; a spring coupled to the latch; and a lever arm coupled to the spring. The latch can be configured to transition between an engaged configuration and an un-engaged configuration. The latch can be configured to retain the plug connector in the cavity when the latch is in the engaged configuration. The spring can be configured to retain the latch in the engaged configuration. The lever arm can be configured to transition the latch to the un-engaged configuration in response to pressure from a tool.

Abstract: A magnetic alignment system can include a primary annular magnetic alignment component and a secondary annular magnetic alignment component. The primary alignment component can include an inner annular region having a first magnetic orientation, an outer annular region having a second magnetic orientation opposite to the first magnetic orientation, and a non-magnetized central annular region disposed between the primary inner annular region and the primary outer annular region. The secondary alignment component can have a magnetic orientation with a radial component. Abstract: Charging devices that can securely hold an electronic device in a useful position, fold into a compact shape, and provide power to the electronic device. One example can provide a wireless charger that can include a wireless charging assembly, a base, and a hinge connecting the wireless charging assembly to the base. When opened, the wireless charging assembly can be positioned upright relative to the base such that an electronic device being charged by the wireless charging assembly can be maintained in an upright position for easy viewing. The wireless charging assembly can be rotated, folded, or otherwise closed into a cavity or passage in the base, which can provide for easy transport. The hinge can be configured to readily open for use, while providing increased friction to resist closing. This increased friction can help the charger to securely hold the electronic device in place while charging.

Abstract: Embodiments describe a portable electronic device that includes a housing having an interface surface and an inductor coil disposed within the housing and comprising a conductive wire wound in a plurality of turns about a center point and in increasing radii such that the inductor coil is substantially planar. The portable electronic device further includes charging circuitry coupled to the inductor coil and configured to operate the inductor coil to wirelessly receive power and wirelessly transmit power, control circuitry coupled to the charging circuitry and configured to instruct the charging circuitry to operate the inductor coil to wirelessly receive power and to wirelessly transmit power, and a device detection coil coupled to the control circuitry and configured to detect the presence of an external device on the charging surface, the device detection coil is configured to operate at a different frequency from the inductor coil.

Abstract: In some embodiments, an electronic device includes an electronic component that is at least partially encapsulated by an adhesive doped with soft magnetic material that functions as an EMI shield for the electronic component. In various embodiments, an electronic device includes a first magnetic component separated from a second magnetic component by a gap within which is positioned an adhesive doped with soft magnetic material. The doped adhesive is positioned in a magnetic path between the first and second magnetic components and aids in magnetically coupling the first and second magnetic components and/or guides magnetic flux between the first and second magnetic components.

Abstract: This disclosure describes a portable electronic device that includes an inductive charging receiver for receiving power wireless from a charging device. The portable electronic device includes a device housing including a wall having a channel formed in an interior-facing surface of the wall. The portable electronic device also includes an inductive coil assembly for receiving power wirelessly that is coupled to the interior facing surface. The inductive coil assembly is a flat coil that includes concentric loops of electrically conductive material that define a central opening. A first electrical lead extends away from a peripheral portion of the flat coil and a second electrical lead extends from the central opening, into the channel formed in the back wall and beneath one side of the concentric loops.
