Abstract: An electrosurgical device comprising: forceps including: (i) a first working arm having a contact surface and (ii) a second working arm having a contact surface; wherein the forceps has a first electrical configuration where the contact surface of the first working arm and the contact surface of the second working arm are substantially opposite each other so that the contact surfaces of the forceps can be used to grip an item between the working arms and so that the forceps is configured to deliver a first therapy current through the first working arm, the second working arm, or both; and wherein the forceps has second electrical configuration where the contact surface of the first working arm and the contact surface of the second working arm are askew relative to each other and an electrode edge is formed on at least one side of the forceps so that a second therapy current extends from the electrode edge.

The drive shaft is moveable relative to the housing to actuate the end effector. The drive body is operably coupled to the drive shaft. The drive body includes a proximal collar and a distal collar. The drive link includes a proximal cam surface and distal cam surface, and the drive link is operatively coupled to the housing and actuatable to translate the drive shaft with respect to the housing. The proximal cam surface is configured to interface with the proximal collar when the drive link displaces proximally to translate the drive body in a proximal direction, and the distal cam surface is configured to interface with the distal collar when the drive link displaces distally to translate the drive shaft in a distal direction.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for delivering laser energy to a target in an endoscopic procedure are disclosed. An exemplary method comprises providing a first laser pulse train and a different second laser pulse train emitting from a distal end of an endoscope and incident on a target. The first laser pulse train has a first laser energy level, and the second laser pulse train has a second laser energy level higher than the first laser energy level. In an example, the first laser pulse train is used to form cracks on a surface of a calculi structure, and the second laser pulse train causes fragmentation of the calculi structure after the cracks are formed.

Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling an energy output setting of a lithotripsy device during a lithotripsy procedure are provided. The system includes a laser or other lithotripsy device configured for facilitating the lithotripsy procedure, an irrigation system configured for supplying an irrigant such as saline to a surgical site, and a temperature sensor configured to provide temperature data associated with the irrigant. The system can modulate the energy output setting of the lithotripsy device based on an estimated temperature that is determined based at least in part on the temperature data and one or more other factors such as a current energy output setting or a flow rate of the irrigant.

Each illumination source can emit light having a range of frequencies centered about a different frequency than each other illumination source.

Abstract: A multifiber assembly and methods of using the same in an endoscopic procedure for transmitting illumination light to, and a response signal reflected from, a target is disclosed. An exemplary device comprises a proximal end, and distal end, and a transition section between the proximal and distal ends. The proximal end includes a first connector to be connected to a light source and a second connector configured to be connected to a spectrometer. The distal end includes a shaft including at least two first optical fibers to transmit light and at least one second optical fiber to transmit a spectroscopic signal. The transition section can couple the first connector to the at least two first optical fibers, and to couple the second connector to the at least one second optical fiber.

Abstract: A system for analyzing a reflected signal during a laser procedure can include a surgical scope. A first light source emitter can be configurable to emit a first signal having a first (e.g., a non-visible) spectrum. A second light source emitter can be configurable to emit a second signal having a second spectrum (e.g., a visible or infrared (IR) spectrum). Each of the first or the second light source emitters can be coupled to or included within the surgical scope. The system can include an optical sensor configurable to detect and analyze a third signal returned from the surface of an object in response to the emitted second signal. The returned third signal can be analyzed to determine whether a reflected absolute or relative intensity or an absolute or relative spectral signature meets at least one criterion, thereby triggering at least one of: warning a user or adjusting the first signal.
