Abstract: Techniques for calibrating an optical sensor system of a composition identification system are provided. In an example, a method can include receiving light at an optical sensor of the optical sensor system from a reference target, determining a first spectral response of the light across a range of wavelengths, determining whether a first spectral intensity corresponding to a first wavelength of the spectral response violates a first threshold, adjust an exposure duration or gain of the optical sensor for the first wavelength to correct the violation, and repeat for multiple wavelengths in the range. Once calibrated, the optical system can more efficiently identify composition of targets, such as anatomical targets encountered during medical procedures such as during endoscopy, laparoscopy, or ureteroscopy procedures, especially when such targets are illuminated with a wide spectrum illumination source.

Abstract: A forceps can include a first jaw and a second jaw. The first jaw can include a first jaw frame and a first movable jaw segment coupled with the first jaw frame. The second jaw can be coupled with the first jaw and the first movable jaw segment can be in communication with a first electromagnetic actuation system. The first movable jaw segment is configured to be electromagnetically actuatable relative to the first jaw frame.

Abstract: A device having a sheath, a medical device, a stylet, a handle and a plunger device. The handle includes portions connected proximal ends of the sheath, the medical device and the stylet and a chamber portion connected to the actuator. The chamber portion includes a volume of space configured to volumetrically connect to at a lumen of the medical device, the sheath or the stylet and a plunger device configured to be slidably received within the chamber portion. The plunger device is able to pneumatically isolate a proximal portion of the volume of space from a distal portion of the volume of space. Proximal movement of the stylet and the plunger device cause a suction effect (i.e., reduced pressure) at the distal end of the sheath, the medical device and/or the stylet.

Abstract: A system can perform image capture during a medical procedure. The system can record video from one or more video sources. The system can store the recorded video in a cached memory as stored video. The system can receive a triggering event, such as receiving a signal, operation of an actuator, or issuance of a voice command. In response to the triggering event, the system can capture a video segment from the stored video. Because the video segment is captured from stored video, the video segment can optionally include video and/or frames that occurred before the triggering event is received.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for temperature and pressure management of an anatomic site are provided. A system can include a scope configured to provide a view of an anatomic site, an energy delivery device configured to deliver therapy energy to the anatomic site, a first irrigation conduit configured to transfer fluid to the anatomic site, a first temperature sensor situated to provide first temperature data associated with the anatomic site, and control circuitry electrically coupled to receive the first temperature data, the control circuitry being configured to adjust, based at least in part on the first temperature data, at least one of (i) a first temperature of the fluid, (ii) a flow parameter of the fluid, or (iii) a setting of the energy delivery device to manage a second temperature of the anatomic site.

Abstract: An apparatus for deflecting a medical tool passed through an endoscope. The apparatus includes a hollow proximal end having an internal diameter configured to provide a frictional fit to a distal end of an endoscope, a distal end having a first lumen extending from the hollow proximal end to a distal face, wherein the first lumen includes dimensions configured to receive a medical tool passed through a working channel of the endoscope, and a tube extending from the distal face at the lumen, wherein the tube has a precurved configuration configured to guide the medical tool received through the first lumen.

Abstract: A surgical instrument for removing biological tissue during a surgical procedure comprises an elongate shaft and an end effector connected to the elongate shaft, the end effector including an edge configured to remove tissue, wherein curvature of one or both of the elongate shaft and end effector is adjustable to position the edge along a tissue surface when the curvature of the one or both of the elongate shaft and end effector is adjusted. A method of incising target tissue from an anatomic wall comprises inserting a shaft of a surgical instrument into an anatomic chamber of a patient, positioning a tissue-removal device connected to the shaft proximate the target tissue, deflecting an axis of the tissue-removal device relative to a central axis of the shaft, and shaving a surface of the anatomic wall by moving the tissue-removal device in a deflected state along the target tissue.
