Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may perform a random access channel (RACH) procedure with a base station. The UE may receive a message configuring a RACH preamble occasion and an uplink data occasion. The message may be a radio resource control (RRC) message or a system information (SI) message. In some cases, the UE may determine if the RACH preamble occasion, the uplink data occasion, or both are restricted for cancellation based on the message. The UE may determine when to monitor a downlink control channel for dynamic scheduling based on determining which occasions are restricted for cancellation and may transmit a RACH message based on monitoring—or not monitoring—the downlink control channel for dynamic scheduling preempting a RACH occasion. In some other cases, a base station may schedule transmissions to not overlap with configured RACH occasions.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may be configured to receive first system information from a base station, the first system information being for reduced-capability UEs including UEs with a bandwidth capability below a threshold, the UE being a reduced-capability UE. The UE may evaluate the first system information for a dedicated field that includes an indicator that additional system information for reduced-capability UEs is to be received in response to on-demand requests. Subsequently, the UE may obtain the additional system information for reduced-capability UEs in accordance with information included in either the dedicated field when the dedicated field is included in the first system information or in a configuration information element of the first system information when the dedicated field is absent from the first system information.

Abstract: Wireless communication systems and methods related to enhancing initial access for multi-beam operations. A user equipment (UE) selects a synchronization signal block (SSB) that corresponds to a beam and has a reference signal received power (RSRP) above a threshold. The UE receives a system information block (SIB) that includes a plurality of SSB and beam-specific system information pairs. The UE selects beam-specific system information by matching the selected SSB to one of SSBs in the multiple SSB and beam-specific system information pairs. The UE establishes a connection with a base station (BS) using the beam-specific system information.

A user equipment (UE) may be receive a grant configuration including multiple set of parameters, and the UE may select a set of parameters from the configured grant based on a channel condition. In some examples, the UE may be configured to signal to a network (e.g., a base station) the selected set of parameters and their corresponding parameter values. For example, the UE may be configured to signal the selected set of parameters over semi-static signaling (e.g., radio resource control (RRC) messaging) or dynamic signaling (e.g., medium access control-control element (MAC-CE) messaging, uplink control information (UCI) messaging, or the like). By configuring the UE with multiple set of parameters, the UE may adapt to changing channel conditions, which may provide higher reliability and lower latency for wireless communications, as well as reduce power consumption for the UE.

An exemplary method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) generally includes obtaining, from a base station (BS), parameters and a grant of transmission resources for asynchronous non-orthogonal multiple access (A-NOMA) transmissions; obtaining data for transmission to the BS; and transmitting the data in an A-NOMA transmission via the transmission resources according to the parameters while the UE is in a radio resource control (RRC) Inactive mode.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. As described herein, a service type may be configured, activated, and utilized for subsequent communications according to the service type. For example, a user equipment (UE) may monitor a downlink control channel associated with the service type based on configuring the service type and activating the service type, receive downlink messages associated with the service type, or transmit uplink messages associated with the service type. In some cases, the service type may be activated by transmitting a medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) or a downlink control information (DCI) message. When traffic associated with the service type is no longer present, the service type may be deactivated based on a deactivation indication and/or a deactivation timer. In some cases, the service type may include an ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC) service or a low latency service.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for service indication via downlink control information (DCI) in which different services have a same DCI size. Techniques provide also that a DCI format may be indicated by a masking operation on a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) of the DCI. The DCI may include an indicator field that may indicate the service of the associated operation. The indication may also be provided via different monitoring occasions of the DCI transmissions that are associated with different services. Different DCI search spaces also may be associated with different services and provide the service indication. Additionally or alternatively, different scrambling sequences used on all or a portion of control information or demodulation reference signal transmissions may be associated with different services.
