Abstract: A management device for a low power wide area network can: generate and send, to each constrained wireless network device via a wired gateway, a link layer multicast listener command specifying a listening interval and causing each constrained wireless network device to change from a low-power optimized mode to a listening mode until reception of a multicast data packet within the listening interval; generate collision avoidance parameters including a minimum waiting interval, a maximum waiting interval relative to the listening interval, and a redundancy constant; and instruct the wired gateways to selectively transmit the multicast data packet based on the collision avoidance parameters, wherein each wired gateway responds by waiting a randomly-selected wait interval between the minimum and maximum waiting intervals, and selectively transmitting the multicast data packet only if a received number of the multicast data packet by the corresponding wired gateway is less than the redundancy constant.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method comprises: determining, by a constrained network device in a low power and lossy network (LLN), a self-estimated density value of neighboring LLN devices based on wirelessly receiving an identified number of beacon message transmissions within an identified time interval from neighboring transmitting LLN devices in the LLN; setting, by the constrained network device, a first wireless transmit power value based on the self-estimated density value; and transmitting a beacon message at the first wireless transmit power value, the beacon message specifying the self-estimated density value, a corresponding trust metric for the self-estimated density value, and the first wireless transmit power value used by the constrained network device for transmitting the beacon message.

Abstract: In one example, a responder obtains an Operations, Administration, and Management/Maintenance (OAM) probe packet from a network entity operating as an initiator in a network, provides, to the initiator, a first response to the OAM probe packet over a first network path in the network, and further provides, to the initiator, a second response to the OAM probe packet over a second network path in the network that is different from the first network path. In another example, an initiator provides an OAM probe packet to a network entity operating as responder in a network, obtains, from the responder, a first response to the OAM probe packet over a first network path in the network, and further obtains, from the responder, a second response to the OAM probe packet over a second network path in the network that is different from the first network path.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method comprises: identifying, by a low power and lossy network (LLN) device in a low power and lossy network, a minimum distance value and a distance limit value for limiting multicast propagation, initiated at the LLN device, of a multicast data message in the LLN; and multicast transmitting, by the LLN device, the multicast data message with a current distance field specifying the minimum distance value and a distance limit field specifying the distance limit value, the multicast transmitting causing a receiving LLN device having a corresponding rank in the LLN to respond to the multicast data message by: (1) determining an updated distance based on adding to the current distance field a rank difference between the receiving LLN device and the LLN device, and (2) selectively retransmitting the multicast data message if the updated distance is less than the distance limit value.

Abstract: Optimal determination of wireless network pathway configurations may be provided. A computing device may receive an error profile and a response instruction associated with the error profile, as generated by a network controller. The computing device may then monitor, for an error, on a communication Track, in a network, between an ingress node and an egress node. Then, the computing device, upon detecting the error, can determine that the error is similar to the error profile, and based on the determination that the error is similar to the error profile, enact the response instruction. The response instruction can direct the computing device to switch from the communication Track to a communication subTrack between the ingress node and the egress node.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method comprises: identifying, by a receiving network device, a deterministic schedule comprising allocated time slots, each allocated time slot allocated for the receiving network device receiving a data packet from one of a plurality of transmitting network devices in a wireless deterministic data network; and selectively transmitting, by the receiving network device, an expectation message at initiation of each of the allocated time slots, each expectation message preempting transmission by any other network device during the corresponding allocated time slot, each expectation message generated by the receiving network device and identifying a corresponding transmitting network device that is expected to deterministically transmit a corresponding expected data packet to the receiving network device during the corresponding allocated time slot; the expectation message causing the corresponding identified transmitting network device to transmit the corresponding expected data packet during the corresponding allocated time slot.

Abstract: A source access network device multicasts copies of a packet to multiple core switches, for switching to a same target access network device. The core switches are selected for the multicast based on a load balancing algorithm managed by a central controller. The target access network device receives at least one of the copies of the packet and generates at least metric indicative of a level of traffic congestion at the core switches and feeds back information regarding the recorded at least one metric to the controller. The controller adjusts the load balancing algorithm based on the fed back information for selection of core switches for a subsequent data flow.

Abstract: A method by a wireless network device in a wireless data network comprises: joining a non-storing mode destination-oriented directed acyclic graph (DODAG) in response to receiving a multicast DODAG information object (DIO) message originated by a root device; generating and transmitting a unicast destination advertisement (DAO) message destined for the root device and indicating the wireless network device has joined the DODAG; advertising as a subroot of a subDAG in the DODAG, based on outputting a second message specifying subDAG information identifying the subDAG; receiving a second unicast DAO message generated by a child network device in the subDAG and addressed to the wireless network device, the second unicast DAO message indicating the child network device has joined the subDAG; and generating and sending a third unicast DAO message to the root device specifying the child network device is reachable via the wireless network device.

In various embodiments, a method of performing energy detection is performed by a computing device. In various embodiments, the method includes performing energy detection on one or more overlapping portions of a first channel and a second channel. In some embodiments, the method includes determining whether a detected energy level from the energy detection satisfies a threshold. In some embodiments, the method includes transmitting a signal into the first channel based on the threshold being satisfied.
