Abstract: Wireless communication devices are adapted to facilitate information sequences included in frozen sub-channels of polar coded transmissions. According to one example, an apparatus can generate a mask sequence based on a plurality of parameters, including at least one of a transmitting-device-specific sequence or a receiving-device-specific sequence. In some examples, the frozen bits may be masked with the mask sequence, and an information block may be encoded utilizing polar coding. In other examples, the mask sequence may be compared to the frozen bits of a received information block, and the received information block may be determined as intended for the apparatus when the mask sequence matches to the frozen bits. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which uplink timelines may be reduced by initiating, at a user equipment (UE), uplink transmission processing prior to receipt of an uplink grant for an uplink communication. A UE may identify one or more uplink transmission parameters associated with a reduced uplink transmission timeline for an uplink communication, and use the uplink transmission parameters to initiate processing of the uplink communication prior to receiving an uplink grant from a base station. The uplink transmission parameters may allow for packet preparation at a higher layers (e.g., at a medium access control (MAC) layer or radio link control (RLC) layer) to be started or completed prior to receipt of the uplink grant.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for generation of an encoded transport block (TB) that includes a number of systematic code blocks (CBs) and a number of parity CBs. The systematic CBs may be transmitted to a receiver, and the receiver may attempt to decode the systematic CBs. In some cases, one or more parity CBs may be transmitted with the systematic CBs, and the systematic CBs may be successfully decoded even in the event that one or more of the systematic CBs are not successfully received. In some cases, a receiver may provide feedback that requests that additional CBs be transmitted to decode the systematic CBs that were received, and it is not necessary to retransmit the missing systematic CBs. In some cases, a quantized value of a number of additional CBs needed to decode the TB may be transmitted.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may monitor a downlink transmission for control information during a set of physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) monitoring occasions. The UE may determine a first configuration for the set of PDCCH monitoring occasions during a slot of the downlink transmission and a threshold number of PDCCH candidates and/or a threshold number of non-overlapping CCEs within the slot. In some cases, the UE may also determine a threshold number of PDCCH candidates and/or non-overlapping control channel elements (CCEs) within a single PDCCH monitoring occasion. The threshold number of PDCCH candidates and non-overlapping CCEs may be fixed, based on the number of PDCCH monitoring occasions during the slot, based on a processing capability of the UE, or a combination thereof. The UE may decode control information contained in one or more of the PDCCH monitoring occasions.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless communications system may support multicast transmissions from a base station to multiple user equipments (UEs). Each UE may have uplink resources allocated for providing feedback to the base station regarding multicast transmissions. For example, a UE may not successfully decode one or more frames of a multicast transmission. When a UE does not successfully decode the one or more frames, the UE may transmit negative acknowledgment (NACK) feedback indicating the one or more frames that were not successfully received. A serving base station may store frames within a buffer for a transmission window and retransmit each of the frames indicated within the NACK feedback from the stored frames. In some cases, the serving base station may not retransmit frames that were not indicated within the NACK feedback (e.g., frames that may have been received successfully by the UE).

Abstract: Features of the present disclosure implement a low complexity rate-matching design for polar codes that supports full rate-matching granularity, in some cases without good bit re-estimation after puncturing. In particular, features of the present disclosure provide techniques for adjusting the information bits allocation based on the number of punctured bits (P) for block puncturing polar codes. Particularly, features of the present disclosure determine the number of information bits for each sector based on a capacity formula after the puncturing.
