摘要: A computed tomography apparatus has a gantry for mounting components of an acquisition system that are arranged such that they can rotate around a system axis, and a stationary part in which the gantry is supported such that it can tilt. A device for cooling the components by airflow is arranged on the gantry. The cooling device has at least one feed channel and at least one air discharge channel that are arranged between the stationary part and the gantry so that the air current introduced into the gantry via the stationary part is conducted out from the gantry into the stationary part in a directed manner after cooling the components. The direction of the air current directed from the computed tomography apparatus thus does not depend on the tilt of the gantry. Moreover, the computed tomography apparatus is designed such that cooling is achieved with low noise emission since the direct sound propagation path between the exit opening and the gantry is interrupted.

摘要: A method for performing security screening at a checkpoint is provided. The method includes providing an X-ray imaging system having a scanning area and providing a supporting device for supporting articles to be scanned in the scanning area, wherein the supporting device has at least two reference areas manifesting respective X-ray signatures when exposed to X-rays, the X-ray signatures being distinguishable from one another. The method further includes placing an article to be scanned on the supporting device, introducing the article to be scanned in the scanning area while the article is supported by the supporting device and using the X-ray imaging system for deriving the X-ray signatures of the reference areas and for obtaining an X-ray image of the article while the supporting device is in the scanning area. The method further includes using the X-ray signatures to derive X-ray attenuation information from the X-ray image and using the X-ray attenuation information in determining if the article is a security threat.

摘要: An x-ray target pedestal assembly and a method of protecting the x-ray target from breaking down as a result of the extreme heat that is produced when an electron beam is aimed at the target to produce x-rays. The target is submerged in cooling fluid and is rotated by a constant flow of the cooling fluid over and around the target in order to dissipate heat. The fluid is guided by integrated flow diverters in the target cover. The target may also be protectively coated either in its entirety or along the electron beam path in order to further protect it from the heat of the electron beam impact or from breakdown as a result of attack of free radicals or other chemically reactive components of the cooling fluid which are produced in the extreme target environment.

摘要: An apparatus and method for detecting contaminants in a food product having an irregular shape is described. The apparatus comprises a contaminant detection device constructed and arranged to detect contaminants in a food product when the food product enters a zone of operation relative to the contaminant detection device. A conveyor belt is electrically coupled to the contaminant detector. The contour filler is operably connected to the conveyor bell and contaminant detector, and positions the food product within the zone of operation. The contour filler may retain the food product and fill the cross sectional area of the zone of operation to enhance contaminant detection. The contour filler may rotate the food product relative to the contaminant detector.

摘要: A apparatus particularly well suited for use in medical imaging includes radiation sensitive detectors (40, 50) which detect gamma radiation indicative of radionuclide decays in an examination region (30). The detectors (40, 50) are supported by generally c-shaped support (70) for rotation about a detector rotation axis (35). The support (70) is farther attached to a pivot joint (77) which allows adjustment of the detector rotation axis (35). The support (70) may also be translated in two degrees of freedom to so that the detectors (40, 50) orbit the examination region (20) in a non-circular orbit.

摘要: When a tabletop is rolling, an aperture specifying unit calculates an aperture of diaphragm blades such that a radiation field is to be R′ based on a rolling angle, where R′ is a radiation field having the same radiation area of X-rays after tabletop rolling as a radiation area before the tabletop rolling. The aperture specifying unit instructs a beam-limit control unit to take the calculated aperture of the diaphragm blades in an X-ray beam limiting device. Then, the beam-limit control unit controls the aperture of the diaphragm blades such that the radiation field is to be R′.
