    摘要: A switch construction having a support carrying switch contacts and an electrical coil that has an armature operatively associated with the switch contacts to cause a switching operation therewith when the coil is energized to attract the armature from a first position thereof to a second position thereof relative to the coil. A mechanical spring arrangement is operatively associated with the armature to continuously resist the movement thereof from the first position thereof to the second position thereof with an increasing force that overcomes the increasing pull in force of the energized coil on the armature before the armature reaches its zero gap with the energized coil whereby the spring arrangement prevents the armature from reaching its zero gap and thereby causes the switch construction to be relatively noiseless in the operation thereof.

    摘要: An electromagnet for use in an extremely inverse time overcurrent relay, wherein extremely inverse relay performance is obtained as a result of the electromagnet's simplified design. The electromagnet comprises a core having two E shaped portions of unequal size, each portion including a base wall, two outer legs and an inner leg, with the inner legs of the two portions being arranged in aligned opposition. The opposed and aligned inner legs of the core constitute magnetic pole members having opposed faces spaced apart and defining an air gap therebetween. Each pole member is provided with a shading ring shading the pole member by greater than 50%. Further, the electromagnet is provided with a single energizing means located on the core for establishing a flux distribution in the air gap whereby a rotatable armature which may be located in the air gap may be driven in response to an energizing current.

    摘要: A solenoid for operating various devices, such as a reversing valve, and which includes a C-frame having a first non-magnetic bushing mounted in the bight portion of the C-frame. A coil assembly is removably mounted in the C-frame and is retained therein by a flux plate which is snapped in place between the outer ends of the legs of the C-frame and retained by a friction fit. The coil assembly is provided with retainer members that seat in retainer notches in the C-frame bight portion and the flux plate, for retaining the coil assembly against movement. A cylindrical, non-magnetic core guide is mounted axially through the coil assembly and has slidably mounted therein a solenoid plunger and a pole piece. A second non-magnetic bushing is mounted in the flux plate. The solenoid plunger has a reduced diameter outer end which is slidably mounted in the first bushing, and the pole piece has a reduced diameter outer end which is slidably mounted through the second bushing. A close tolerance is maintained between the inner diameter of the core guide and the outer diameters of the solenoid plunger and the pole piece, while a large tolerance is provided between the coil assembly and the core guide to permit the combination or assembly of the core guide, the solenoid plunger and the pole piece to float within the coil assembly. An operating shaft is slidably mounted through the pole piece and engages the inner end of the solenoid plunger. A spring has one end operatively mounted against the outer face of the flux plate and the other end attached to the pole piece for normally biasing the floating pole piece into an initial position.

    摘要: A bobbin assembly in an electric relay, the bobbin having a pair of flanges and with one of the flanges having an associated cap which at least partially encloses the end of the bobbin and which serves as a seating surface for an iron core, the cap having windows formed therein to provide access for a staking tool so that the core is held captive within the bobbin prior to assembly in the relay. The outer end of the core carries a shading ring which is held in registered position by an embossment. The cap is clamped between the core and the frame of the relay to provide a magnetic gap thereby to reduce the level of residual flux when the relay coil is de-energized.
