摘要: Device and method for protecting a submersible pump. The device can include a housing for connecting to a downhole pump, and a plurality of shelves disposed throughout the housing, wherein at least two shelves are axially spaced from one another, and each shelf provides a surface for supporting and collecting sand or other solids within the housing. A restrictor assembly can be disposed at one end of the housing and configured to allow fluid flow through the housing in one direction and at least partially restrict flow through the housing in an opposite, second direction.

摘要: A sump pump system detects backflow from an outlet pipe in a sump pump system and implements control of the sump pump in light of the detected backflow (or lack thereof). The sump pump system may detect the backflow (or lack thereof) by detecting and comparing water rise rates in a sump basin before activation or engagement of the sump pump (e.g., immediately before the pump starts pumping) and after the pump has disengaged or deactivated (e.g., immediately after the pump stops pumping). The rises rates may be detected via sensors configured to detect motion or acceleration (e.g., accelerometers, inertial measurement units, or force acceleration sensors) placed in the sump basin such that detect motion of water in the basin corresponding to changing water levels.

摘要: Systems and methods for monitoring and suppressing a back EMF generated by an ESP motor when the ESP system is moved in a well. Embodiments provide both electrical braking to reduce the rotation of the motor (and corresponding back EMF) and warnings to alert users to hazardous conditions caused by the back EMF. One embodiment includes an ESP system having a permanent magnet motor, a back EMF safety system, and a power cable connected between them. The proximal ends of the cable's conductors are connected terminals of the back EMF safety system, which has switches that are closed to short circuit the conductors so that back EMF currents from rotation of the motor induce electrical braking in the motor. Currents and phase-to-phase voltages on the conductors are monitored to detect overcurrent and overvoltage conditions that may trigger alarms or other actions.

摘要: The present invention relates to a closed loop subsea cooling system with a subsea cooler. A coolant pump assembly is located in a dedicated, sealed, gas filled, coolant pump housing in coolant fluid connection with the at least one subsea cooler. A heat sink in a dedicated sealed, gas filled, electronics housing is in coolant fluid connection with the subsea cooler. An accumulator is in coolant fluid connection with the subsea cooler, whereby the electric coolant pump is adapted to pump coolant through the at least one subsea cooler, the at least one heat sink and back to the at least one electric coolant pump assembly, forming a closed loop subsea cooling circuit.
