摘要： A ski brake including at least one brake arm is detachably associated with a ski binding. The brake arm is arranged for movement about a transverse pivot axis defined by pivot axle means located between a base plate of the binding and a heel plate for supporting the heel of the ski boot. The heel plate can be clipped into position on the base plate, with or without the ski brake present, by means of cooperating clip elements on the base plate and heel plate respectively. Three different embodiments are shown including a base plate mounting which allows the ski to flex freely and an arrangement for a ski brake having two transverse pivot axles interconnected by a torsionally loaded actuating loop.

摘要： Disclosed is a ski brake of the type fixed to the upper surface of a ski. The brake includes a pair of brake shoes on opposite sides of the ski biased into a downward, active braking position, and a counter biasing pedal which holds the brake in an inactive position when held down by a ski boot. The pedal is a U-shaped loop formed by a pair of arms of unequal length and with separate pivot points longitudinally displaced on the ski, so that elastic deformation of the loop when it is pivoted gives rise to a return bias into the braking position. At the U connection between the arms there is provided an adjusting member in the form of a turnbuckle which permits the spacing between the arms to be adjusted to suit the particular width of the ski.

摘要： A ski brake mechanism comprising at least one laterally positioned brake arm for the ski which can be rocked into a position below the plane of the running surface of the ski and an actuation portion or component which can be depressed by the ski boot. The brake arm and actuation portion are essentially formed as one-piece from a common spring wire. The brake arm essentially consists of a loop-shaped section of the spring wire, the two legs of which are mounted upon the ski by means of two transversely extending mutually spaced pivot shafts or axes. The actuation portion essentially comprises a wire section merging in a lever-like fashion at one of the two legs.

摘要： A snow ski traction device includes a traction blade pivotally mounted on blade-to-ski attachment device so as to secure the blade to the side of a snow ski. The blade pivots through a pivot arc of substantially 90 degrees and is stopped from pivoting outside of that arc. At one end of the arc, the length of the blade is substantially parallel to the length of the ski; while at the other end of the arc, it is perpendicular to the length of the ski. When perpendicular to the ski, the blade engages with and presses backwards against snow or ice beneath the ski, thus propelling the wearer of the ski in a forward direction and preventing backward slippage of the ski. When parallel to the ski, the blade permits a full, forward sliding movement of the ski. The ordinary motion of the ski causes the blade to pivot as required between these parallel and perpendicular positions. This device, and its method of use, are particularly applicable for cross-country skiing, though can be used by downhill skiers as well.
