    摘要: An apparatus and method of controlling exhaust pressure in an internal combustion engine are disclosed. In one embodiment the apparatus may comprise: a housing; a valve disposed in the housing; an orifice formed in the valve, wherein the orifice defines a gas flowpath through the valve; and a shaft slidably disposed in a bore formed in the valve, the shaft movable between a first position, in which gas is substantially prevented from flowing through said orifice, and a second position in which gas is permitted to flow through said orifice. The position of the shaft may be selectively varied in response to an actuating force.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus for actuating an engine valve provided between an engine cylinder and an exhaust manifold to provide compression-release engine braking in combination with exhaust gas restriction and brake gas recirculation are disclosed. In a first embodiment of the present invention, the engine valve used to provide brake gas recirculation and compression-release braking may be maintained slightly open between the brake gas recirculation and compression-release events. In another embodiment of the present invention, the cam closing ramp for a main exhaust event may be extended to terminate near the beginning of a brake gas recirculation event to facilitate refilling a hydraulic valve actuation system used to in association with the exhaust valve.

This may prevent gaps in the valvetrain, particularly when used with cams having sub-base circle auxiliary motion event profiles. Valvetrain components, such as an e-foot engaging a valve bridge, may be provided with a biasing mechanism and stroke limiting and retaining components to maintain engagement between the e-foot and valve bridge, to control stability of the valve bridge, and to make assembly/disassembly easier.

    摘要: Systems and methods for controlling valves in valve actuation systems in internal combustion engines systems may be particularly suitable for sequencing valve motion in engine environments that combine cylinder deactivation and high-power density (HPD) engine braking. A main event motion system is configured to produce main event motion in one or more valve sets. An engine braking system produces engine braking motion and a cylinder deactivation system selectively deactivates main event motion of the intake and exhaust valves the valve set. A blocking system selectively prevents the cylinder deactivation system from deactivating main event motion of at least one intake valve during the engine braking operation. Thus, main event intake valve motions may be available for braking operations, such as HPD braking where main event intake valve motion may be used to enhance CR braking. One actuator can control deactivation of paired intake and exhaust main event motion.
