摘要: Implantable drug-eluting device comprising a microporous structure having regularly arranged pores in at least two different uniform sizes, and manufacturing method. The pores are configured for receiving a drug and are being connected by interconnections. Interconnections originating from pores of a first size have a first elution area and interconnections originating from pores of a second size have a second elution area. The interconnections convey the drug to a surface of the device for elution to surrounding tissue. The ratio between the first and the second elution areas is predefined and selectable. The differently sized elution areas provide for different outflow rates. This allows for simple but reliable dispensing of drugs at positively controlled and well determined rates. Particularly, this enables a single implantable device to dispense drugs over preselectable durations of time, like short-term or long-term.

摘要: An augment device includes a hollow sleeve surrounding a channel extending through the hollow sleeve from a top to a bottom of the hollow sleeve, the hollow sleeve comprising a wall having an inner face and an outer face. The hollow sleeve includes at least one bending joint, the bending joint being configured for compressing the channel. Thereby the hollow sleeve may be compressed under an external force, leading to a decreased circumference and width of the hollow sleeve. This leads to a gap between the perimeter of the augment device and surrounding bone material, breaking any connections, By virtue of this, a much facilitated removal of the augment device can be achieved. Further, an extraction tool includes grippers for engaging and compressing the augment device, and further instruments, particularly a jig, for achieving an effective removal.

摘要: The present invention provides a method for treating a polymer workpiece (1) for use in a joint implant. It comprises the steps of placing the polymer workpiece in an explosion chamber, introducing a combustible gas mixture into the explosion chamber and igniting the combustible gas mixture. Igniting the gas mixture in the explosion chamber produces a temperature that lies above the melting point of a polymer of the polymer workpiece.

摘要: An augment device for a joint endoprosthesis, the device including a sleeve surrounding a channel extending through the sleeve. The sleeve further comprises a wall surrounding the channel, the wall being made of solid material and forming a sandwich structure with the porous material, wherein the wall forms a bulkhead between the inner face and the outer face. Thereby, the bulkhead wall will stop inflow of any cement across the sleeve from its inner to its outer face. The porous material on the outer face will be kept free from cement and its capability to promote bone ingrowth is reliably preserved. The augment devices are preferably provided as a set having different sizes and straight or stepped bottoms for improved versatility and maximum preservation of natural bone matter.

摘要: An extracorporeally length-adjustable implant system comprises an implant component to be fastened to a bone to be lengthened and an adjustment device with two fastening parts that are displaceable relative to one another, each of which is intended for arrangement at a part of the bone to be lengthened, wherein the adjustment device is able to distract the two fastening parts and comprises a drive element with a permanent magnet arranged in rotationally fashion and a mechanism which converts a rotational movement of the permanent magnet into a distracting longitudinal movement of the adjustment device; and an extracorporeal drive unit for the drive element of the implant component. The extracorporeal drive unit comprises a rotatably mounted extracorporeal magnetic ring with an interior to receive the bone to be lengthened with the adjustment device, and an actuation device to rotate the extracorporeal magnetic ring in the ring plane thereof.
