After electrode pads arranged on the surface of the memory card inserted into a reader are brought into contact with corresponding contacts arranged in the reader, the first resilient contact piece is pressed by a front end edge portion of the memory card and resiliently displaced in the direction of the thickness of the memory card so as to contact the second resilient contact pieces. The second resilient piece is pressed by the first resilient piece and resiliently displaced in the direction of the thickness of the memory card so as to provide a wiping action on a pressure contacting portion.
