Abstract:
A partially combustible propellant charge igniter has a bottom piece with primer charge and an ignition gas guide tube adjoining this primer charge, with a combustible tube containing the booster charge, the internal diameter of this latter tube being larger than that of the ignition gas guide tube, and a cavity containing a separating charge between the ignition gas guide tube and the combustible tube. A communicating opening is provided between the propagation charge and the separating charge. The communicating opening comprises at least one bore in a valve bonnet, valve means being provided which, in case of excess pressure in the cavity with respect to the booster charge close the bores at least partially, so that ignition of the separating charge takes place essentially through the bore.
Abstract:
A method for increasing the resistance of an igniter element of given geometry in an electrical circuit to a predetermined, specific value by the removal of resistance material, which comprises heating the resistance material situated between two acid-resistance electrodes simultaneously etching the resistance material with acid until the desired resistance value has been established.
Abstract:
An electromagnetic generator for a projectile having a magnetic core, a coil system, a race duct and an element moveable in the race duct relative to the magnetic core for altering the magnetic field. An ignitable charge is provided for generating propellant gases which propellant gases cause at least initial movement of the element in the race duct.
Abstract:
A pyromechanical cutting element has a housing (2) in which an electrical conductor (3) is arranged, a cutting plunger (5) with a cutting tool (8) to cut through the electrical conductor (3), and pyrotechnic charge (13) to drive the cutting plunger (5), with the cutting tool (8) bending over the electrical conductor (3) after cutting through it and forming a bending tongue (18) that sticks out from the conductor (3) in a way that interrupts the conductor (3). The electrical conductor (3) has a cross-sectional area reduction in the longitudinal direction (4) consisting of two transverse sides and two longitudinal sides. The cutting tool (8) first cuts through the cross-sectional area reduction (4) just on one transverse side and upon further advancement bends over the longitudinal sides at least in part, and, upon further advancement, the cutting tool (8) clamps the bending tongue (18) thus created.
Abstract:
An apparatus for the cutting of an electrical conductor has an electrical conductor arranged in a housing, a pyrotechnic drive and a cutting device. After the triggering of the drive, the cutting device enters into engagement with the conductor to cut it.
Abstract:
A pyrotechnic cutting device has a guiding housing in which there is arranged a part to be severed, which is fashioned so as to be severable at a cut point by a cutting tool having a cutting chisel. A pressure pulse generator containing a pyrotechnic driving charge is arranged in the cutting device for generating a pressure pulse to drive the cutting tool. In the guiding housing there is arranged, between the pressure pulse generator and the cutting tool, an impact capsule that can be accelerated by the pressure pulse of the triggered pressure pulse generator toward an inner thrust base of the cutting tool on the end of the cutting tool opposite to the cutting chisel. The cutting tool has its cutting chisel abutting the cut point before the impact capsule strikes the thrust base.
Abstract:
An igniting/firing element includes a casing (1) receiving electrical junction lines connected to an igniting jumper (3) on a chip (2) provided with at least one igniting unit (4a, 4b). In order to allow for the element to be universally used and to avoid uncontrolled discharge, it is suggested that the junction lines be designed in the form of pins, which are led to the casing (1) through a glass seal, and that the casing bottom (1) be a metal body (7) in which bores (8) are provided for said glass seals (6) to pass through, and that the metal body be positive-fit to the plastic body (9) covering the peripheral wall of the casing (1) and wrapping the pin tops (5) emerging from the glass seal (6).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for monitoring of gas leakage from a gas or liquefied gas container. For simple and reliable monitoring of gas leakage, parts of the container (1) where there is a risk of leakage are connected to an at least partially evacuated measuring chamber (2) and a change in the pressure in the measuring chamber (2) is employed as a measure of the gas-tightness of the container (1).
Abstract:
A device for igniting a propellant charge is provided with a housing defining a cavity wherein a piston is displaceably guided. The cavity is connected via a bore acting as a nozzle to a chamber wherein a case member of a cartridge is arranged for accommodating the propellant charge. A bottom wall of the case member is equipped with a bore aligned with the bore acting as a nozzle. A primer wafer is disposed on the inner surface of the bottom wall, this wafer being thinner in its central zone than in its marginal zone. The central zone of the primer wafer is a region under mechanical thermal stress during compression, the ignition energy being introduced to the primer wafer via this region in the form of hot compressed air from the compression chamber.
Abstract:
An electrical ignition device (1) has a metal container (2) for a firing resistor or bridge, a first (3) and a second (4) terminal pin and at least one ignition charge (5, 6).So that firing of the ignition charge does not occur in the event of electrical discharges between terminal pins and a housing, it is proposed that the container (2) be capable of being embedded in a plastic material by injection moulding and inserted in the housing, that a first outward extension (8) be provided on the container (2) which is electrically conductively connected to the first terminal pin (3), and that a second outward extension (9) be provided on the container (2) which can be formed so as to extend to the housing leaving a small clearance and of which an outer end is not embedded in the plastic material.
