Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for transmitting and processing reference signals for positioning estimation over a multipath multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel. In aspects, a first node configures first and second reference signal resource sets for transmission of first and second sets of reference signals, wherein the first and second reference signal resource sets occur on first and second subbands of, and/or during first and second time intervals on, the MIMO channel, wherein each reference signal resource in the first and second reference signal resource sets utilize at least first and second MIMO precoders, and transmits, to a second node over the MIMO channel, the first and second sets of reference signals, wherein the first node transmits the first and second sets of reference signals to assist the second node to perform a positioning measurement based on joint processing of the first and second sets of reference signals.

Abstract: Embodiments include methods for managing information transmission between a base station and a wireless device. A base station may apply an encoder neural network to assistance information that may aid a wireless device in communicating with the base station to generate encoded assistance information. The base station may transmit the encoded assistance information to the wireless device via a control or data channel. The wireless device may use the encoded assistance information to update one or more behaviors of the wireless device without decoding the encoded assistance information. The wireless device may include a different neural network configured to learn how to use the encoded assistance information to update one or more behaviors of the wireless device.

In an aspect, a transmission point configures a set of synchronization signal blocks to be used as positioning measurement signals, each of the plurality of synchronization signal blocks comprising a primary synchronization signal, a secondary synchronization signal, and one or more physical broadcast channel signals, and transmits the set of synchronization signal blocks on a wireless downlink channel to enable a user device to perform a positioning measurement of at least one of the set of synchronization signal blocks. In an aspect, the user device receives, from the transmission point, the plurality of synchronization signal blocks on the wireless downlink channel, receives, from the transmission point, an indication of the set of synchronization signal blocks to be used as positioning measurement signals, and performs a positioning measurement of at least one of the set of synchronization signal blocks.

Abstract: Techniques for supporting peer-to-peer (P2P) communication in a wide area network (WAN) are disclosed. In an aspect, interference coordination between P2P devices engaged in P2P communication and WAN devices engaged in WAN communication may be performed based on a network-controlled architecture. For the network-controlled architecture, P2P devices may detect other P2P devices and/or WAN devices and may send measurements (e.g., for pathloss, interference, etc.) for the detected devices to the WAN (e.g., serving base stations). The WAN may perform resource partitioning and/or association for the P2P devices based on the measurements. Association may include selection of P2P communication or WAN communication for a given P2P device. Resource partitioning may include allocation of resources to a group of P2P devices for P2P communication. The WAN may send the results of association and/or resource partitioning to the P2P devices, which may communicate in accordance with the association and/or resource partitioning results.

In an aspect, a first node receives a plurality of beams transmitted by a second node on a wireless channel, selects a first beam from the plurality of beams for transmitting a timing response, determines a timing statistic, a timing difference, and a timing advance for the first beam, wherein the timing difference comprises a difference between the timing statistic and an earliest time of arrival of the plurality of beams, and wherein the timing advance comprises a multiple of the timing difference, and transmits the timing response for the first beam to the second node on the wireless channel, wherein the first node transmits the timing response after a time delay from the timing statistic of the first beam, wherein the time delay comprises a difference between a predetermined time delay and the timing advance.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a network entity schedules, as part of a positioning procedure for a UE, a first set of resources for transmission of DL RS(s) by at least one BS to the UE. The network entity associates the DL RS(s) with UL RS(s) for transmission by the UE on a second set of resources to one or more BSs as part of the positioning procedure for the UE. The network entity transmits, to the UE, an indication of the association between the DL RS(s) and the UL RS(s). The UE receives the indication along with the DL RS(s) from the at least one BS. The UE transmits the UL RS(s) to the one or more BSs on the second set of resources in response to the received indication.
