Abstract:
A method for mapping a sensor pixel array to an illumination pixel array according to a surface forms a group mapping by assigning each pixel in a on the sensor array to a group that has a group width defined by p adjacent pixels on the illumination pixel array by projecting and recording a first and a second multiple group index image with a first and second pattern of lines. Lines appearing in both first and second pattern are spaced by a first distance that is a first multiple of group width p, and lines that appear only in either pattern are evenly spaced by a second distance that exceeds the first distance. A subset of p multiline images are projected, each projecting a line within each group. Lines in one of the multiline images are correlated with lines from the group index images to generate the group mapping.
Abstract:
In an exemplary method for obtaining a contour image of a tooth, which can be executed at least in part by a computer, movement of an intra-oral camera can be detected by acquiring a first video image frame that includes the tooth and processing the first video image frame to detect one or more edges of the tooth in the first video image frame and acquiring a second video image frame that includes the tooth and processing the second video image frame to detect the one or more edges of the tooth in the second video image frame. The method can compare corresponding edge locations between the first and second processed video image frames and projects a fringe pattern illumination onto the tooth from the camera, capturing and storing one or more still images of the fringe pattern according to the detected camera movement.
Abstract:
A wireless X-ray detector for a digital radiography system with remote detection of impinging radiation from the system X-ray source onto a sensor panel having amorphous or crystalline silicon photodiodes or metal insulated semiconductor (MIS) sensors. Certain exemplary embodiments described herein can provide a digital radiography detector including a housing having first and second spaced members and side walls defining a cavity; a radiographic image detector assembly mounted within the cavity for converting a radiographic image to an electronic radiographic image, wherein the detector assembly includes a scintillator screen and a detector imaging array; and a light guiding element positioned proximate the radiographic image detector assembly to detect a start of exposure, a termination of the exposure, dose for the exposure or rate of dose for the exposure using light generated by the scintillator screen.
Abstract:
A method for identifying tooth regions. The method includes generating a first threshold image from a first tooth image by selecting intensity data values higher than a first predetermined threshold value c1; generating a second threshold image from a second tooth image by selecting intensity data values higher than a second predetermined threshold value c2; generating a preliminary tooth regions image that defines at least a first tooth region from the intersection of the first and second threshold images; generating a reference binary image from the first image by selecting intensity data values higher than a third predetermined threshold value c3, wherein threshold value c3 exceeds c1; and generating a refined tooth regions image from at least the first tooth region in the preliminary tooth regions image. The first tooth region is connected to objects in the reference binary image.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for generating a color mapping for a dental object. The method includes generating a transformation matrix according to a set of spectral reflectance data for a statistically valid sampling of teeth. Illumination is directed toward the dental object over at least a first, a second, and a third wavelength band, one wavelength band at a time. For each of a plurality of pixels in an imaging array, an image data value is obtained, corresponding to each of the at least first, second, and third wavelength bands. The transformation matrix is applied to form the color mapping by generating a set of visual color values for each of the plurality of pixels according to the obtained image data values and according to image data values obtained from a reference object at the at least first, second, and third wavelength bands. The color mapping can be stored in an electronic memory.
