Abstract: Battery systems according to embodiments of the present technology may include a battery including a first electrode terminal and a second electrode terminal accessible along a first surface of the battery. The battery systems may also include a module electrically coupled with the battery. The module may include a first mold extending toward the battery. The first mold may define a recess along a first surface of the first mold proximate the first electrode terminal and the second electrode terminal. The module may include a first conductive tab electrically coupling the module with the first electrode terminal. The first electrode terminal may be at least partially positioned within a space defined by the recess defined by the first mold. The module may also include a second conductive tab electrically coupling the module with the second electrode terminal.

Abstract: Battery systems according to embodiments of the present technology may include a battery cell having an electrode tab extending from an edge of a first side of the battery cell. The battery system may also include a module electrically coupled with the battery cell. The module may include a mold defining a recess along a first side of the module. The module may also include a conductive tab extending from the first side of the module. The conductive tab may be coupled with the electrode tab. The electrode tab may be characterized by a curvature along a length of the electrode tab, and a distal end of the electrode tab may be positioned within the recess defined by the mold.

Abstract: An over-molded printed circuit board may be used in a battery pack. The over-molded printed circuit board can include a printed circuit board having electronic components, such as battery management circuitry, disposed thereon. A flex connector can be attached to the printed circuit board. An over-mold can formed about the printed circuit board, for example, by injection molding an epoxy resin, polyamide, or other suitable material. The over-mold may facilitate routing of the flex connector at a desired angle from the battery back and may also have a geometry that provides a supporting mechanical interface between the cells of the battery pack and the printed circuit board. Battery packs so constructed may be installed in electronic devices, such as mobile telephones, smart phones, tablet computers, laptop computers, media players, etc.

Abstract: A battery pack is disclosed. The battery pack includes a cell with a spacer, and a cap mounted on the spacer. The spacer and cap are mated to form a cavity to accommodate the components (i.e. busbars, circuit board, an insulator) of the battery pack. The spacer and cap have a series of mating surfaces for the components, wherein the mating surfaces have different heights to be recessed relative to each other to create spaces for accommodating the components. The recesses, channels, steps and raised portions correspond in geometry to the components so that they can be assembled while removing the tolerance accumulation associated with multiple standoffs.
