Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and processes for users of electronic devices to issue physical activity goal challenges and rewards to one another. In one example, a first user can provide a physical activity goal that is to be performed by a second user. The first user can further provide a reward that is to be given to the second user in response to the second user completing the physical activity goal. An electronic device associated with the second user can be used to detect physical activity performed by the second user and to determine whether the second user has completed the physical activity goal. In response to determining that the second user has completed the physical activity goal, the reward can be issued to the second user. The reward can include an image, video, song, electronic message, amount of virtual currency, access to a service, or the like.

Abstract: Embodiments are disclosed for a wireless wearable computer with fitness machine connectivity for improved activity monitoring using caloric expenditure models. In an embodiment, a method comprises: establishing, by a processor of a wireless wearable computer worn by a user, a wireless communication connection with a fitness machine; obtaining, by the processor using the communication connection, machine data from the fitness machine while the user is engaged in a workout session on the fitness machine; obtaining, from a heart rate sensor of the wireless device, heart rate data of the user; determining, by the processor, a work rate caloric expenditure by applying a work rate calorie model to the machine data; determining, by the processor, a calibrated maximal oxygen consumption of the user based on the heart rate data and the work rate caloric expenditure; determining, by the processor, a heart rate caloric expenditure by applying a heart rate calorie model to the heart rate data and the calibrated maximal oxygen consumption of the user; and sending, by the processor to the fitness machine via the communication connection, at least one of the work rate caloric expenditure or the heart rate caloric expenditure.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to methods for measuring one or more physiological signals while the user is engaged in a predetermined activity. Exemplary predetermined activities can include activities such as walking, climbing stairs, biking, and the like. The physiological measurements can include, but are not limited to, heart rate signals. The physiological measurements may be affected by the predetermined activity, so the system may be configured to employ one or more criteria prior to measuring physiological information to minimize the effects. The one or more criteria can include, but are not limited to, an inter-sampling waiting time, continuous motion criteria, predetermined activity criteria, a post-physiological measurement amount of time, and a confidence value. The continuous motion criteria can be based on the type of predetermined activity. For example, walking may have walking state criteria and a step count criteria.

Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to user interfaces for breathing sequences. In some examples, a device displays a configuration user interface that comprises a prompt to select a number of cycles of a breathing sequence, adjusts the number of cycles of the breathing sequence to the selected number of cycles in response to selection, and initiates a breathing phase of the breathing sequence. In some examples, the device displays and fluctuates a progress indicator in accordance with the selected number of cycles. In some examples, a device detects a time associated with a first breathing sequence, generates a prompting criteria based on a predetermined prompting frequency and the detected time, determines if the prompting criteria has been met, displays a prompt to initiate a second breathing sequence, wherein the prompt comprises a first affordance, and displays a second breathing sequence user interface in response to selection of the first affordance.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and processes for monitoring a workout and for generating improved interfaces for the same. One example user interface detects when a workout of a particular type is started and begins generating activity data related to workout metrics associated with the type of workout selected. Using determined current values for the workout metrics, the example user interface displays a pro-view display that includes indicators for the workout metrics associated with the selected workout type. The pro-view display also includes a focus indicator that highlights a selected indicator representative of a focused workout metric. The focus indicator is movable among the indicators representative of the workout metrics based on user input. Upon detection of a gesture, the example user interface transitions to a simple-view display that includes an indicator representative of the focused workout metric. The simple-view display includes indicators for less than all of the workout metrics associated with the selected workout type. The example user interface receives input to change the focused workout metric in the simple-view display. The example user interface also receives a gesture to transition the simple-view display back to the pro-view display.
