Abstract: Wireless mesh network (WMN) architectures of network hardware devices organized in a mesh topology is described. One device communicates, using a first radio, first data with a second device via a first wireless link between the device and the second device. The device communicates, using a second radio, second data with a third device via a second wireless link between the device and the third device. The device communicates, using a third radio, third data with a fourth device via a third wireless link between the device and the fourth device. The device communicates, using a fourth radio, fourth data with a server of a content delivery network (CDN) via a point-to-point wireless link between the device and the server. The device is an only ingress point for content files for a mesh network that includes at least the device, the second device, and the third device.

In some instances, a user (e.g., picker or picking agent) may retrieve an item from an inventory location and place the item into a tote. The systems described herein detect the item when it is added to or removed from the tote.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus are provided for enabling orientation of directional antennas even when one or more of the directional antennas are moving. Position information for each directional antenna is transmitted using an omnidirectional antenna transmitting at a low bandwidth and a low power. The position information of the directional antennas is used to orient the directional antennas so that a high bandwidth, low power wireless connection can be enabled and/or maintained between the directional antennas. The position information is periodically transmitted and the orientation of the directional antennas is updated as one or more of the directional antennas move so that the wireless connection between the directional antennas is maintained.

Abstract: Network hardware devices are organized in a wireless mesh network (WMN) including multiple home access node (HAN) relay devices located in a geographic area and separated from one another by a distance. To avoid an obstruction preventing terrestrial line-of-sight (LOS) communications, an aerial reflector is deployed for terrestrial non-line-of-sight (NLOS) communications between first and second HAN relay devices. The aerial reflector device is positioned at an aerial location above a first terrestrial location of the first HAN relay device and a second terrestrial location of the second HAN relay device. The aerial reflector device includes a reflective surface that is positioned and oriented to provide terrestrial NLOS communications between a radio of the first HAN relay device and a radio of the second HAN relay device.

Abstract: A misplaced user device deactivates processors and other resources so as to conserve residual battery power, while a radio frequency (RF) circuit remains active. The RF circuit transmits a beacon signal at time intervals to aid a user in locating and recovery of the misplaced user device by way of another user device operating in search mode. Information regarding the identity or other characteristics of the misplaced user device may be encoded in the beacon signal to assist in the search. The misplaced user device may modify the beacon signaling RF power, time intervals, information, or other parameters in response to an acknowledgement signal received from the searching user device.
