Abstract: The present technology provides solutions for anonymizing patient data and in particular, for anonymizing potentially unique patient-identifying information while retaining clinically relevant information, for example, that can be used to illustrate the results or outcomes of a clinical intervention. In some aspects, a process of the disclosed technology can include steps for receiving patient data, wherein the patient data comprises a patient image corresponding with a patient, receiving treatment data, wherein the treatment data is based on a treatment goal for the patient, automatically determining, using one or more semantic controls, one or more anonymization parameters for the patient image; and generating, based on the one or more anonymization parameters, an anonymized patient image. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

Abstract: A method includes processing an input comprising data from an intraoral image using a trained machine learning model that has been trained to classify regions of dental sites, wherein the trained machine learning model outputs a probability map comprising, for each pixel in the intraoral image, a first probability that the pixel belongs to a first dental class and a second probability that the pixel belongs to a second dental class, wherein the first dental class represents excess material, the excess material comprising material other than teeth or gums. The method further includes determining, based on the probability map, one or more pixels in the intraoral image that are classified as excess material. The method further includes hiding or removing from the intraoral image data for the one or more pixels that are classified as excess material.

Abstract: A system comprises a memory and one or more processors operatively connected to the memory. The one or more processors receive a facial image comprising a two-dimensional (2D) depiction of a person's teeth at a first arrangement and receive a tooth model comprising a three-dimensional (3D) depiction of the person's teeth at a second arrangement. The one or more processors obtain color information from the facial image, wherein the color information represents a color scheme of the person's teeth at the first arrangement. The one or more processors generate a photo-realistic 2D depiction of the person's teeth at the second arrangement using the 3D depiction of the person's teeth at the second arrangement and the color information obtained from the facial image. The one or more processors send the photo-realistic 2D depiction of the person's teeth at the second arrangement for display on a display device.

Abstract: In a technique to assess the blurriness of an image, an image of a face is received, the image including a depiction of lips. A processing device determines a region of interest in the image, wherein the region of interest comprises an area inside of the lips. The processing device applies a focus operator to the pixels within the region of interest, and calculates a sharpness metric for the region of interest using an output of the focus operator. The processing device determines whether the sharpness metric satisfies a sharpness criterion, and one or more additional operations are performed responsive to determining that the sharpness metric satisfies the sharpness criterion.

Abstract: In embodiments, a processing device generates a three-dimensional model of a dental site from scan data, the three-dimensional model comprising a representation of a tooth, wherein a portion of the three-dimensional model comprises an interfering surface that obscures a portion of the tooth. The processing device receives or generates an image of the tooth, wherein the image depicts the interfering surface. The processing device processes the image to generate a modified image, wherein the portion of the tooth that was obscured by the interfering surface in the image is shown in the modified image. The processing device updates the three-dimensional model of the dental site by replacing, using the modified image, the portion of the three-dimensional model that comprises the interfering surface that obscures the portion of the tooth, wherein the portion of the tooth that was obscured in the three-dimensional model is shown in an updated three-dimensional model.
