Abstract:
To ensure that multicasts from access points sent in response to periodic beacons reach a variety of listening clients that may have longer sleep intervals than an interval between beacons, this disclosure describes systems, methods, and apparatus for multicasting bursts of frames where a burst number is selected so as to be equal to or greater than a range of common sleep intervals. Further, where multicast frames are re-multicast according to known protocols, the repeated bursts can be offset from the re-multicast start time suggested by the protocol, in order to increase a likelihood that clients with especially long sleep intervals receive the multicast frame.
Abstract:
A personal network may be established by interconnecting a plurality of satellites as part of the personal network. Each satellite may be configured to communicate with one or more other satellites. On any given one of the plurality of satellites, data indicating a connectivity status for the one or more other satellites is automatically received, and information indicating a capability of the one or more other satellites is automatically received. The given satellite may be configured to enable at least one other corresponding satellite in the plurality of satellites to be made available for use, so that a capability of the at least one other corresponding satellite is made available for the given satellite.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for mapping events to actions among heterogeneous devices are disclosed. An exemplary method may include obtaining at least one human-readable-event-descriptor from each of a plurality of event-emitting devices and obtaining at least one human-readable-action-descriptor from each of a plurality of action-effectuating devices. The human-readable-event-descriptors and the human-readable-action-descriptors are displayed on a display of the computing device, and user inputs are detected at the computing device that associate each of at least one of the human-readable-event-descriptors with at least one of the human-readable-action-descriptors to create a selected association between the human-readable-event-descriptors and the human-readable-action-descriptors. The selected association between the human-readable-event-descriptors and the human-readable-action-descriptors is stored in an event-action-association datastore on the computing device to enable one or more actions to be carried out when an event occurs.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for providing voicemail services to callers of wireless devices may include providing customized outgoing messages to callers based upon the caller's identification. A subscriber to the voicemail service may select one or more contacts associated with the subscriber to receive a customized outgoing message while the remaining callers receive a general outgoing message. The methods and apparatus may further include distributing voicemail messages from a subscriber's voicemail accounts to one or more social networking sites. The subscriber to the voicemail services may share one or more received voicemail messages via one or more social networking accounts associated with the subscriber.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to allowing mass re-onboarding of onboardee devices. An onboarder device receives updated network configuration parameters for a local wireless network, and sends the updated network configuration parameters and a delay parameter to one or more onboardee devices, wherein the one or more user devices reconnect to the local wireless network using the updated network configuration parameters at a time indicated by the delay parameter. An onboardee device receives updated network configuration parameters for a local wireless network, receives a delay parameter indicating a time at which the updated network configuration parameters will be valid, and connects to the local wireless network at the time indicated by the delay parameter using the updated network configuration parameters.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to performing a remote Wi-Fi network configuration when a network security protocol is unknown. In particular, Wi-Fi network configurations typically require a name, a security protocol, and authentication credentials. However, users attempting to configure a Wi-Fi network may not know the security protocol or be unable to recall the security protocol when presented with a dialog requesting such details. As such, assuming a finite set of security protocols, the algorithm disclosed herein may assume an OPEN (e.g., unsecured) configuration on the destination Wi-Fi network if no credentials were supplied or alternatively a WPS configuration if credentials consisting of exactly eight digits were supplied. Otherwise, the algorithm may iterate through each security protocol supported on the device supports (e.g., according to popularity, complexity, etc.) until a successful network association occurs or all supported security protocols are exhausted.
Abstract:
The present disclosure generally relates to systems and methods for establishing and maintaining communication between two or more communication devices coupled to communication networks. Some specific aspects relate to communication between a plurality of communication devices each of which is coupled to a respective network. Other aspects relate to establishing such communication by way of contact lists maintained and facilitated on systems coupled to the networks. Users of multiple communication networks, such as VoIP, PSTN and wireless, employ multiple communication devices to communicate with their contacts. For example, a VoIP enabled computer is necessary to access contacts on a VoIP network and a mobile or cellular telephone is used to access contacts on wireless and PSTN networks. A contact list, stored on one communication device, in some instances, cannot be accessed from another communication device. For example, a contact list stored in a VoIP enabled computer cannot be accessed from PSTN or wireless phone devices. Various embodiments described herein provide a convenient solution that can integrate contacts stored on different communication devices and make them accessible from a single device.
