    摘要: An inside-outside pincushion correction circuit includes an arrangement of first and second branches that provide a pair of current paths to a deflection current that flows in a deflection winding. The first branch includes a modulation inductance and the second branch includes a modulation capacitance that is coupled across the modulation inductance by a switch at a controllable time during the retrace interval. The controllable time varies in a vertical rate parabolic manner to provide deflection current modulation to correct inside and outside pincushion distortions. Variation of the retrace interval associated with the modulation inductance are compensated by offsetting variations produced by the retrace capacitance.

    摘要: The picture tube of a television receiver includes, inter alia, a plurality of electrodes to develop and accelerate an electron beam, and a phosphor screen on which the electron beam impinges. A deflection generator is coupled to a deflection winding for generating scanning current to produce a sweep of the electron beam across the phosphor screen. A remote control circuit develops an on/off command signal for switching the television receiver between normal run and standby modes of operation. A first switch is responsive to the command signal and disables normal generation of the scanning current upon the occurrence of the off-state of the command signal to inhibit normal sweep of the electron beam. A second switch, also responsive to the command signal, applies to one of the electrodes of the picture tube, such as the grid electrode, a blocking potential upon the occurrence of the off-state of the command signal to suppress generation of the electron beam prior to the disablement of scanning current generation.

    摘要: A controllable switch operated at the horizontal deflection rate is coupled to a horizontal deflection winding to generate scanning current during a trace interval of a deflection cycle. A deflection retrace capacitor forms a retrace resonant circuit with the deflection winding during the retrace interval. A supply inductance such as a winding of a horizontal output transformer is coupled either conductively or magnetically to a source of supply energy. A second capacitor is coupled to the supply inductance and to the controllable switch and forms a second resonant circuit with the supply inductance within the retrace interval to generate a pulse voltage. The pulse voltage energizes a load circuit such as the ultor high voltage circuit. A modulation inductance is coupled to a source of modulation signals and to the deflection winding and supplies a modulation current to the retrace resonant circuit to modulate the amplitude of the scanning current without modulating the amplitude of the supply inductance pulse voltage. The modulation may occur at a vertical rate to provide east-west pincushion distortion correction.

Raster distortion is corrected by a switched pincushion correction circuit. Further raster distortion due to load-dependent retrace time modulation is corrected by a corrective circuit which includes a retrace duration sensing circuit for generating a control signal representative of the horizontal retrace pulse duration. The control signal is coupled to the pincushion correction circuit so that it acts additionally in a manner to compensate the load-dependent raster size variations.

    摘要: A selectable aspect ratio raster is generated on a CRT with a 16:9 aspect ratio screen by a deflection yoke and deflection amplifier. The deflection amplifier is coupled in a non-floating configuration to the deflection yoke. This permits a switching arrangement to control the horizontal deflection amplitude by the selectable addition of inductance in series, with the yoke. The switching arrangement also controls other deflection circuit parameters to provide optimum raster correction at the selected aspect ratio.

    摘要: Two windings of a flyback transformer in a horizontal deflection circuit are inductively coupled with opposite polarity to a source of horizontal rate retrace pulses. The windings have a common junction coupled to ground. A circuit energized by the retrace pulses generates modulated currents of opposite polarity. Conduction of each current is controlled by a switch circuit including a semiconductor switch and two diodes. The switch circuits are coupled to one another at a junction, and the junction is coupled to an energy storage capacitance. One of the diodes conducts positively valued portions of the respective current through the energy storage capacitance and the other of the diodes conducts negatively valued portions of the respective current through the semiconductor switch. Each semiconductor switch is a current discharge path. The energy storage capacitance is responsive to the currents for developing a vertical deflection voltage in phase with the currents at the horizontal rate for driving a vertical deflection current in a vertical deflection yoke. The vertical deflection current is related to the difference in amplitude between positively valued portions of the currents. A North-South pincushion correction current in phase with the horizontal deflection is generated by integration of the vertical deflection voltage in the vertical deflection yoke. A North-South pincushion transformer has a first winding capacity coupled to the energy storage capacitance and a second winding forming part of a horizontal rate resonant circuit coupled in series with the vertical deflection yoke.

    摘要: A nonlinear video signal processing system provides gamma correction to improve rendition of picture details near black. In addition, picture brilliance is improved using a brightness and frequency dependent enhancement circuit providing increased detail signal contrast in bright picture areas. In each color channel, the respective color signal is gradually separated into a low level amplitude signal portion and a higher level amplitude signal portion. The higher level amplitude portion is high-pass frequency filtered. The low level signal portion and the high-pass filtered higher amplitude signal portion are added to the original, linear video signal for producing a combined signal coupled to the kinescope. The low level signal portion is DC coupled to the linear signal and the high level signal portion is AC coupled to the linear signal.

    摘要: A degaussing circuit for a cathode ray tube, of a video display apparatus includes a resonating capacitor that is charged prior to degaussing. A degaussing coil is disposed about the cathode ray tube. An SCR, responsive to an on/off control signal, is turned on by a control switch for coupling the resonating capacitor to the degaussing coil in order to generate an AC, degaussing current in the coil having an amplitude that diminishes to a low amplitude during a degaussing interval. Positive feedback is used for speeding up the turn-on time of the control switch. A series pass transistor switch couples a source of a supply voltage to a delay network. The series pass transistor switch is coupled in the current path of the current that is supplied by the power supply. An energizing voltage is developed at the output of the delay network. The magnitude of the energizing voltage exceeds a predetermined value after a predetermined delay time following the closing of the transistor switch, that is determined by the delay network. The delayed energizing voltage is coupled to a deflection circuit to initiate deflection circuit operation after conclusion of the degaussing.

    摘要: A video display apparatus incorporates a picture tube, such as a square-planar picture tube, that includes a phosphor screen located on a faceplate having an aspherically curved geometry that produces a relatively flat surface contour. Deflection circuitry generates line and field scanning currents in respective line and field deflection windings to enable the electron beams of the picture tube to scan a raster on the phosphor screen. The electron beams are subject to a scanning error that results in raster distortion, such as side pincushion distortion. A parabola generator produces a parabolic modulation of the scanning of the electron beams to generally correct the raster distortion while retaining a residual error due to the aspherically curved geometry of the faceplate. A nonlinear waveshaping circuit modifies the parabolic modulation of the scanning current in accordance with the aspherically curved geometry to provide additional modulation of the electron beam scanning for correcting the residual error. The nonlinear waveshaping circuit includes a current source and a switched current divider that is responsive to a threshold level of the parabolic voltage developed by the parabola generator.
