Abstract:
The present invention concerns a method for determining if a handover of a first half-duplex terminal has to be executed from a first to a second base station. The first base station: transfers signal in the cell of the first base station, receiving a message transferred by the first half-duplex terminal in response to the signal transferred by the first base station, the message comprising information relative to quality measurements on the signals transferred by the first and second base stations, receiving a message indicating if the idle period of the cell of the second base station is compatible with the round trip delay of the first half-duplex terminal in the cell of the second base station, determining if a handover of the first half-duplex terminal has to be executed according to the compatibility.
Abstract:
A method of de-mapping non-binary Galois field symbols from physical layer code-words in a data communication system, in which at least one physical layer code-word includes portions mapped from more than one non-binary Galois field symbol is provided. The method includes calculating at least a provisional likelihood estimate for values of a first non-binary Galois field symbol having at least portions within a first physical layer code-word, the calculating including selecting a first number of values of a second non-binary Galois field symbol having at least portions within the first physical layer code-word, the first number forming a subset of the possible values of the second non-binary Galois field symbol.
Abstract:
A method of transmitting data comprising a plurality of data streams in a broadcasting system is provided. The method includes dividing a frame into a plurality of physical layer zones, allocating the plurality of data streams to the plurality of physical layer zones, allocating signaling information associated with the plurality of physical layers to at least one of the plurality of physical layer regions, and transmitting the frame to which the signaling information is allocated.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for encoding, transmitting, and receiving signaling information in a broadcasting/communication system are provided. The method includes generating the signaling information which comprises a plurality of pieces; determining a number of coded blocks to which the signaling information is to be encoded, based on a number of bits of the signaling information and a number of encoder input information bit; segmenting each piece of the signaling information based on the number of the coded blocks; constructing input information bits of each coded block to include segmented parts of each piece of the signaling information; encoding the input information bits to each coded block; and transmitting each coded block.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for transmitting data are provided. In the method, data streams are mapped onto frames, a word is generated including information for receiving the data streams for a given frame, and parity bits are derived from the word for the given frame. The data is arranged in the frames. Each of the frames includes a preamble and a data section. The preamble and the data section are time-multiplexed. The data section includes at least a part of the data streams, and the preamble includes signaling information. The word is inserted in a preamble section of the given frame, and one of the parity bits is inserted in a preamble section of a prior frame preceding the given frame. A part of the word for the given frame is inserted within a data section of an earlier frame preceding the prior frame. The frames are then transmitted.
Abstract:
An encoder and a decoder employ an encoding scheme corresponding to a parity check matrix which is derivable from a bipartite protograph formed of variable nodes and check nodes, with each variable node corresponding to a codeword symbol position. The protograph has a plurality of groups of nodes, each group of nodes comprising both variable nodes and check nodes. Each of the check nodes in a group is of degree 2 and has connections to two variable nodes in the same group. The protograph also has a plurality of check nodes of degree n, where n is the number of said plurality of groups, wherein each of the plurality of check nodes has a connection to a variable node in each group such that the symbol positions in a codeword are interleaved between the groups of nodes.

Abstract:
A method for determining a corrected estimated variance representative of the condition of reception of signals representative of symbols transferred by an emitter to a receiver through a communication channel. The method includes, executed by the receiver, producing an estimation of the variance by a Wiener channel estimator comprising a linear filter of which coefficients are determined at least from a given average signal to interference plus noise ratio value. The method further includes, executed by the receiver, multiplying the estimation of the variance by a correction factor. The value of the correction factor, being dependent at least on the number of coefficients of the linear filter of the Wiener channel estimator.

An apparatus and a method for transmitting and receiving a signal in a communication system are provided. The method includes checking a type of the signal to be transmitted; determining a number of puncture bits according to the type of the signal; and puncturing an encoded signal to be transmitted according to the number of puncture bits.
