Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE), Next Generation Node-B (gNB) and methods of communication are generally described herein. The UE may receive configuration information to configure the UE with a plurality of channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) resource sets. One of the CSI-RS resource sets may be allocated for beam failure detection (BFD). The UE may determine, based on a sub-carrier spacing (SCS) of a bandwidth part (BWP), a frequency density of the CSI-RS resources in the BWP in terms of a number of resource elements (REs) per resource block (RB). The UE may determine, based on the frequency density of the CSI-RS resources, an evaluation period for CSI-RS based BFD, wherein the evaluation period is longer for higher frequency densities and the evaluation period is shorter for lower frequency densities.

Abstract: Beamforming measurement techniques based on PSS/SSS are disclosed. An apparatus of a user equipment (UE) can include processing circuitry configured to decode a configuration message from a source serving cell, the configuration message indicating signal selection criteria for cell measurement reporting. A synchronization signal (SS) burst set associated with one or more transmission/reception points (TRPs) within a neighboring cell is decoded, the SS burst set including a plurality of SS blocks. A cell bcamforming measurement signal associated with the neighboring cell is generated, based on signal measurements of the SS blocks and the signal selection criteria. A radio resource management (RRM) measurement report message is encoded for transmission to the serving cell, the measurement report message including the cell beamforming measurement signal. A handover command message for initiating a handover to the neighboring cell is decoded, the handover command based on the cell beamforming measurement signal.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station (BS) configured to support activation of a secondary cell (SCell), a request to provide a measurement report. In response to the request, the UE may perform one or more measurements on the SCell using one or more reference signals (RSs). Additionally or alternatively, the UE may generate the measurement report based on the one or more measurements and further transmit the measurement report to the BS. In some embodiments, the UE may further determine a pathloss estimation based on the one or more measurements.

Abstract: A network may transmit either beam deployment information or beam number information to a user equipment (UE) carried on a train and configured for operation in the millimeter wave band. The deployment information may include deployment related distance parameters or azimuth angle spread parameters. The beam number information may indicate a number of network beams associated with a current cell. The UE may determine a number of UE receive beams based on deployment information or the network-indicated number of network beams. The UE may transmit feedback to the network, indicating the number of UE receive beams. Alternatively, the network may send a configuration message indicating a first number of UE receive beams to the UE, which the UE may treat as an upper bound or lower bound in its determination of a desired number of UE receive beams. The UE may transmit the desired number to the network.

The UL transmission can be based on at least one of: the first or the second sequence length such as for an initial access procedure based on the coexisting RAT and the OCB, for example.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to devices, apparatuses, and methods for enhanced PHR reporting in support of UE antenna scaling. A wireless device, which comprises at least one antenna array each comprising a plurality of antenna elements may perform antenna scaling by activating or deactivating at least one of the plurality of antenna elements (with corresponding RF chains) of one or more antenna arrays. The wireless device may generate a power headroom (PHR) report based at least on a difference between beamforming gains obtained after the antenna scaling and before the antenna scaling. The wireless device may then send the PHR report to a base station in communication with the wireless device.
