Abstract: A method and apparatus for improved transmission of ACK and NACK bits to a base station The example method may determine a distance between a first UE and a second UE based on one or more of a sequence length, a number of hypothesis, or a number of UEs sharing an OFDM symbol. The example method may determine a plurality of cyclic shifts for each of the first UE and the second UE. The example method may assign one or more sequences to each UE. The example method may receive, at the base station, a multiplexed signal, wherein the multiplexed signal includes at least one bit of uplink control information (UCI) from the first UE and the second UE multiplexed on an uplink short burst transmitted via the OFDM symbol. The method may enable the receipt of UCI from multiple UEs in a multiplexed signal.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for a power headroom report for multiple radio access technologies (RATs). A user equipment (UE) may support multiple RATs that correspond to different transmission time intervals (TTIs). A UE may determine a reporting schedule for power headroom reports (PHRs) for a first RAT and a second schedule for PHRs for a second RAT. The UE may generate a PHR for the first RAT and a companion PHR for the second RAT, and may transmit the PHR and companion PHR based at least in part on the first PHR schedule. In some examples, the UE may receive a PHR type from the base station, and may determine a joint PHR based on the type. The UE may determine a joint PHR schedule based on a granularity of supported RATs.

Abstract: Control channel decoding can consume a significant amount of power with respect to the device's total power battery lifetime, as well as being a factor in the complexity of device. Aspects of a method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium are presented herein that provide a solution to the problem of control channel decoding complexity and power requirements by improving the manner in which control channels are decoded. An apparatus configures an initial CORESET having a reduced bandwidth corresponding to a bandwidth capability of a first UE type. The reduced bandwidth having a narrower frequency range than a bandwidth capability of a second UE type. The apparatus may configure a first CORESET for a first UE having a first bandwidth capability and a second CORESET for a second UE having a second bandwidth capability. The apparatus transmits control channel(s) in the configured CORESET(s).

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) before radio resource control connection setup completion. A by a base station (BS) generally includes transmitting a system information block, to a user equipment (UE), containing system information indicating a resource set of a plurality of predefined resource sets, each containing a plurality of resources. The BS transmits downlink control information on physical downlink control channel associated with a control channel element (CCE) index, to the UE, containing resource indicator (RI) bits to indicate a resource of the plurality of resources of the indicated resource set available for the UE to use for transmitting uplink control information (UCI) in a PUCCH. The BS monitors the indicated resource for the PUCCH transmission. A UE determines the resource based on the SI, RI bits, and CCE index, and transmits UCI in the PUCCH on the determined resource.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device may transmit feedback, such as hybrid automatic repeat request (HARD) feedback for groups of code blocks rather than for an entire transport block or individual code blocks. The wireless device may transmit an acknowledgement (ACK) or negative-acknowledgement (NACK) to provide feedback for each code block group of a set of code block groups. An ACK may indicate that code blocks in a code block group were successfully decoded, and a NACK may indicate that at least one code block in a code block group was not successfully decoded. Wireless devices may support several techniques for grouping code blocks for feedback reporting to allow for efficient retransmissions and limited overhead. Different grouping schemes may be employed depending on system constraints, device capability, link conditions, or the like.

Abstract: A wireless device may identify a set of resources reserved for feedback information (e.g., resource elements (REs) reserved for feedback such as acknowledgement (ACK) or negative ACK (NACK) information) within a transmission time interval (TTI). Feedback information may be mapped to the reserved set of resources (e.g., reserved REs). The wireless device may determine a set of unused reserved resources (e.g., a set of unused reserved REs) based on the number of feedback bits. The wireless device may then map other bits (e.g., zeros, known bits, pattern or sequence of bits, random bits, etc.) to the set of unused reserved REs, or boost transmission power of bits mapped around the unused reserved REs. In some cases, the number of reserved REs may be determined based on the number of feedback bits (e.g., the size of the ACK/NACK payload). The wireless device may then transmit the information to a base station.
