Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an analyzer for measuring the vapor pressure of a hydrocarbon liquid. The analyzer includes a pressure measuring system connected to an air saturation system having a circulation chamber with opposing first and second ends. A first opening is disposed toward the first end and a second opening is disposed toward the second end. A plumbing system connects the first and second openings. A pump moves the hydrocarbon liquid through the plumbing system from the first opening to the second opening so as to saturate the hydrocarbon liquid with air. The air saturation system has a cooler for cooling the hydrocarbon liquid and the pressure measuring system has a heater for heating the hydrocarbon liquid. The pump may be a piston actuated pump or a motor-driven pump and the plumbing system may include an aeration chamber.
Abstract:
A robotic palletizing system is provided for receiving objects from a conveyor and loading the objects on a pallet using a robot having an articulated arm assembly. A lift station is located below the robot and includes a lift assembly that is operable to raise an object in a lift area of the lift station to a pick position from which the robot can grasp the object. When the lift is raising an object, a barrier is raised to prevent any other objects from moving into the lift area. A sensor is operable to detect objects moving into the lift area and a sensor bank is operable to detect the presence and size of any objects in the lift area.
Abstract:
A method of damping the oscillations during an emergency stop of an ascending single drum hoist system in a shaft having a conveyance, the mechanical brakes applying a braking force to the drum and the drum rotating in a first direction having a speed, comprising applying a first brake force when the drum speed reaches close to zero enabling the drum to roll back in an opposite direction to the first direction by a force generated from a first conveyance downward swing, and controlling the brake force during the first conveyance downward swing to dissipate the energy of the swing.
Abstract:
A method, computer program product and a system for preemptively tripping a fossil fuel fired burner of a steam generator before the burner is tripped when amplitude of any of two or more signals that represent a property of temporal combustion of the flame such as intensity or flicker frequency reaches an associated preselected signal strength. The signals that represent a property of temporal combustion are combined in a predetermined manner to give a quality signal that is used to preemptively trip the burner when the quality signal reaches a preselected signal strength.
Abstract:
A system for use with a roll bowl type mill for the pulverizing of solid fuels such as coal. The system includes hardware in the form of sensors and other components and software to among other things monitor the operating condition of the mill's moving parts and predict their failure. The system can determine the diameter of the mill's rollers, or the reduction and/or depth of cup wear of each of the rollers, the thickness of the solid fuel in the mill, can by analysis determine the wear of each of the one or more roller bearings in the mill and predict their failure and can estimate the mill availability.
Abstract:
A system for use in ac to ac or dc to ac power conversion equipment to detect faults in an inverter when the inverter is in a high impedance mode. The system detects ground faults or cross wiring conditions by converting the inverter outputs to digital signals and evaluating the frequencies of the resulting signals. The system keeps the inverter in the high impedance mode until after it has been determined that neither of the described abnormal statuses exist. The system tests for both of the abnormal statuses on power up and thereafter tests only for a ground fault whenever the inverter switches are disabled.
Abstract:
A preferred embodiment of an interrupter assembly for a circuit breaker includes a first contact, a conductor, and a second contact mounted on the conductor. The second contact and the conductor are movable in relation to the first contact between a first position wherein the first and the second contacts are in electrical contact, and a second position. The interrupter assembly also includes a body having a first and a second half each having a plurality of recesses formed therein. The recesses form chambers within the body for holding insulating fluid when the first and the second halves are mated. The body receives the second contact and the conductor so that the conductor and the second contact are drawn through the chambers as the second contact moves from the first to the second position.
Abstract:
A preferred embodiment of a system comprises a recloser electrically coupled to a voltage source of a power-distribution network and adapted to isolate a section of a distribution feeder of the power-distribution network from the voltage source in response to an overcurrent condition in the section of the distribution feeder. The system also comprises a sectionalizer electrically coupled to the section of the distribution feeder. The sectionalizer and the recloser are adapted to communicate via a data network and the recloser is responsive to control inputs sent to the recloser from the sectionalizer over the data network.
Abstract:
A simulated calibration and verification reference sample for a measurement system including a blackbody radiation source and a spectrographic sensor is disclosed. By providing a simulating reference sample, no actual sample is required and the problems associated with an actual sample including preparation, maintenance, use, storage, replacement and the like are eliminated.
