    摘要: Thiolcarbamates are prepared by reacting a secondary amine having the formula ##EQU1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and each represent hydrogen, lower alkyl, alkoxy, alkenyl, alkoxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, hydroxyalkyl, benzyl or phenyl or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 combined is a nitrogen containing heterocyclic ring with carbonylsulfide to form an intermediate of an amine salt of a thiolcarbamic acid having the formula ##EQU2## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are defined as above, in an organic solvent having the formula ##SPC1##Wherein n is 0, 1 or 2 and R' is hydrogen, halogen or a lower alkyl group which solvent is sparingly soluble or insoluble in water and which dissolves the amine salt of the thiolcarbonic acid, and then reacting the intermediate with an alkyl halide having the formulaX -- CH.sub.2 -- R.sub.3wherein X represents halogen, and R.sub.3 represents hydrogen, lower alkyl or naphthyl or phenyl which can be substituted with halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, cyano or nitro, to yield a thiolcarbamate having the formula ##EQU3##

The thiocarbamates can be prepared by converting amino alcohols to sodium salts thereof with metallic sodium and reacting isothiocyanates with the sodium salts followed by quaternization. The carbamates can be prepared by reacting isocyanates with amino alcohols followed by quaternization. The dithiocarbamates can be prepared by reacting isothiocyanates with sodium salts of aminoalkanethiols followed by quaternization. The carbimides can be prepared by reacting isocyanates with alkanediamines followed by quaternization.

    摘要: This invention is directed to the preparation of polymerizable monomers that are prepared from 1-(1-isocyanato-1-methylethyl)-3-(1-methylethenyl) benzene (m-TMI) and 1-(1-isocyanato-1-methylethyl)-4-(1-methylethenyl) benzene (p-TMI). The monomers prepared from m- and p-TMI can contain numerous chemical moieties, and when polymerized, produce polymers that have chemically bonded to the polymeric backbone the functional moiety. More specifically, these TMI derived monomers may contain chain breaking antioxidant moieties, peroxide decomposing antioxidant moieties, ultraviolet stabilizing moieties, triplet quenching moieties, and other chemical moieties that are useful in polymers.
