Fiberization is performed with a pulper, which includes a primary space for processing the material to be fiberized with a knife assembly rotating on a driving shaft. The material to be processed is forced, in order to fiberize the material, by rotary motion of the knife through a screen assembly, into a secondary space, for supplying the fiberized material further through an expulsion opening of the pulper to further processing. The knife assembly includes a primary knife unit for final preparation of a material to be fed into the pulper, and a secondary knife unit for fiberizing the material to be processed by forcing it to pass first through the secondary knife unit, and through a screen assembly, spaced from the knife assembly by a clearance. An apparatus can apply the method.

    摘要: An apparatus for breaking or crushing one or more objects into a plurality of smaller objects. The apparatus comprises a canister, an impeller disposed within the canister, and a means for rotating the impeller. The objects to be crushed are fed into the canister through an inlet port formed in a first side plate of the canister. The crushed objects are discharged from the canister through an outlet port formed in a second side plate of the canister. In one embodiment, the canister is formed such that the cross-sectional shape of the canister parallel to the first side plate is asymmetric with respect to the axis of rotation of the impeller. In another embodiment, the impeller comprises a plurality of blades formed with a paddle curved such that the concave end of the paddle faces into the airflow as the impeller is rotated. In yet another embodiment, the first side plate is formed opposite the second side plate so that the outlet port is on an opposite side of the canister from the inlet port. Preferably, the impeller has three blades. The outlet port or ports are preferably formed above the level of the inlet port or ports. The apparatus can crush ore having a mean diameter of 2 inches to 50 mesh particles in a matter of seconds. Better uniformity of size of discharged particles is obtained than in prior mills. The apparatus of the invention requires little maintenance since the impeller and canister interior sustain little wear or fatigue.

The helical arrangement forms a screw which facilitates the advancement of the material in addition to grinding it. The screw pitch is adjustable in such a manner that when the material reaches the discharge port it has attained the required particle size. The grinding elements are readily interchangeable to permit replacement of worn or damaged parts or to treat a variety of materials as well as to vary the degree of grinding to be attained.

    摘要: A mill with an impeller in which blades are mounted between two disks, and each blade has a leading edge projecting into the cross-section of the inlet. The leading edge of every other one of the blades is perpendicular to the axis of the impeller, and the leading edge of the remaining blades on the impeller are skewed. The blades on the impeller alternate in sequence along the circumference of the impeller so that each blade with leading edge perpendicular to the impeller axis is adjacently neighbored on each side with blades having skewed leading edges. The alternative sequence of the blades reduce wear on the blades by a predetermined amount for increasing the operating life of the blades.

    摘要: A blower-beater mill for drying and milling material with a beater body and impeller arranged on the mill shaft. The beater arms of the beater body are fastened between hub rings on the shaft and water cooling is applied along the longitudinal axis of the mill shaft. The shaft is enclosed by a casing which extends to the impeller and is spaced from the shaft. In the region of the beater body, the casing has openings for the beater arms. The mill shaft also has hub rings between the beater body and the impeller. The casing is made up of U-shaped rings which overlap one or several hub rings. The rings have vertical legs inserted into passages between the hub rings. A passage behind the beater portion may be enlarged for fitting insert pins in the direction of the hub pins and lock washers may be placed between the front faces of the insert pins and the side faces of the hub rings. A gap may be located between the deflection disk of the impeller and the last U-shaped ring. The diameter of individual U-shaped rings may vary along the shaft.
