    摘要: An inner tube (2) connected to a vehicle body is inserted such that it is free to extend and contract in an outer tube (1) joined to a vehicle shaft. A partitioning member (3) which divides an internal oil chamber at the end of the inner tube is provided, a damping valve (4) and a bypass passage (3d) parallel to this damping valve (4) are disposed in this partitioning member (3), a control rod (5) which opens and closes the bypass passage (3d) is provided, and an actuator (20) which controls this control rod (5) is provided in the inner tube (2). By operating the control rod (5) via the actuator (20) to open/close the bypass passage (3d), the damping force generated is varied.

    摘要: An arrangement of a vehicular suspension system is disclosed in which each drive circuit which outputs a drive current to a corresponding one of the actuators installed on each shock absorber is arranged at a position adjacent to the corresponding one of actuators. Thus, transmission of signals from each drive circuit to the corresponding one of the actuators is unaffected by electrical disturbance. In addition, a length of a wire connected between the corresponding one of the actuators and the drive circuit can be shortened. The generation of noises causing the electromagnetic wave interference can be prevented. In another preferred embodiment, a printed circuit board containing each drive circuit is mounted in a casing of the corresponding one of the actuators of the shock absorbers.

    摘要: A damping force control type hydraulic shock absorber capable of providing different damping force characteristics during the extension and retraction strokes when the piston speed is low. The hydraulic shock absorber has a piston having a first damping force generating mechanism. A bypass passage is formed in part by small orifice passages and an extension-side damping force generating mechanism. The bypass passage is further provided with large orifice passages (constituting a passage with relatively large cross-sectional area) and medium orifice passages (with a medium cross-sectional area). When all the orifice passages are closed with a shutter, "hard" characteristics are obtained by the first damping force generating mechanism. When the shutter is opened, "medium" characteristics are obtained by the cooperation of the extension-side damping force generating mechanism and the medium orifice passages, which come into effect during the retraction stroke. When the large and small orifice passages are opened, "soft" characteristics are obtained by the cooperation of the small orifice passages, which come into effect during the extension stroke and the large orifice passages, which come into effect during the contraction stroke.

    摘要: A motor vehicle suspension system has a damper with a member rotatable through positions producing separate discrete damping characteristics. Feedback apparatus comprises a contact pad for each position, a brush rotating with the rotatable member, and an electric circuit generating an output voltage in a first voltage range when the brush does not contact a contact pad and in a second range when it does. The output voltage is repeatedly sampled to control a position count. A count control increments the count with the first sample in the second range following a predetermined number of consecutive samples in the first range but prevents further increment of the count until after a predetermined number of consecutive samples in the second range. The rotatable member can thus be stopped immediately upon the first detection of the selected position while the counting control is changed only once in each new position of the rotatable member.

The actuator accommodating a rotor for rotation with an adjusting rod, an ultrasonic vibratory element and a vibration transmitting member. A high frequency voltage is applied to the ultrasonic vibratory element from outside to generate surface waves of a high frequency on the surface of the vibration transmitting member to rotationally drive the rotor. The rotor thus rotates the adjusting rod to adjust the damping force of the hydraulic shock absorber.

    摘要: A rod actuator which includes a d.c. motor, a reduction gearing, a solenoid assembly which is used to define an intermediate stop position, and rotation stops. The angular extent through which an output shaft of the reduction gearing is rotatable is limited by a pair of limit stops. The solenoid assembly includes a plunger which is located intermediate the limit stops. A rotational stop is rotatably mounted on the output shaft and has a projection which is adapted to abut against the plunger to cease the motion of the rotational stop. The rotational stop is mounted on the output shaft so as to be rotatable relative thereto through a small angle by a lost motion, but is driven for integral rotation with the output shaft when such angle is exceeded. A lost motion connector is used so the angles of rotation where the rotation of the output shaft is stopped by the plunger during its clockwise and counter-clockwise rotations will be substantially equal. The actuator may be used in a shock absorber mounted on a vehicle to establish three levels, "high", "medium" and "low", of attenuation exhibited by the shock absorber.

    摘要: A hydraulic damper includes a cylinder containing hydraulic fluid therein, a piston working in the cylinder and partitioning the interior thereof into two liquid chambers, a piston rod connected to the piston and extending through one of the liquid chambers to project to the outside of the cylinder, and disc valves provided on opposite sides of the piston for generating damping force both in the extension and contraction strokes of the damper. A liquid passage is formed in the piston rod to communicate the two liquid chambers separately from the disc valves. An adjusting member is provided in the liquid passage and is displaceable between three or more adjusting positions for changing the effective area thereof. A digital encoder connected to the adjusting member for detecting the adjusting positions. The digital encoder includes a common electric line which ON-OFF controls at least two other electric lines when the other two lines generate the same digital signals.
