Abstract:
A centrifugal wheel apparatus for a vehicle having a plurality of pivoting elements attachable to an interior of a vehicle wheel that, when subjected to centripetal force, pivot away from the vehicle wheel and toward a pneumatic tire attached to the vehicle wheel to reshape the pneumatic tire into a dome thereby decreasing surface contact between the vehicle and a surface so that the vehicle may travel with less resistance and increased economy.
Abstract:
A vehicle suspension includes a hub and a hub temperature indicating device visible from an exterior of the hub and exposed to a temperature within an interior of the hub, and including a material which changes color in response to a predetermined change in the hub interior temperature. A hub temperature indicating device includes one of a hub cap plug and a hub cap window, including a material which changes color in response to a predetermined change in temperature in the hub interior. Another hub temperature indicating device includes a material which is operative to change color in response to a temperature change in a hub interior, the material comprising an irreversible temperature change indicating material; another material adjacent the first material, and which is operative to transfer heat between the hub interior and the first material; and the device being configured to attach to a hub cap.
Abstract:
An axle system includes an axle shaft offset located within an axle center beam housing. The axle shaft is located in a recess in a top wall of the axle center beam shaped with slopes to maximize clearance to the bottom of the vehicle floor panels. The pneumatic brake cylinders define a cylinder axis angled within an angular range from a generally vertical orientation for enhanced packaging.
Abstract:
A clamping plate 30 is disclose for securing the central disc 24 of a wheel 12 to a wheel flange 14 on an axle 16 of an agricultural vehicle. The flange 14 has a plurality of holes regularly distributed about a pitch circle and the central disc 24 of the wheel and the clamping plate 30 have holes aligned with the holes in the flange 14 for receiving bolts 26 by means of which the central disc 24 of the wheel 12 is clamped between the clamping plate 30 and the flange 14. In the invention, the outer diameter of the clamping plate 30 exceeds the diameter of the pitch circle of the holes in the clamping plate by a distance greater than twice the diameter of the bolts 26.
Abstract:
A wheel set includes a primary wheel and two secondary wheels. The secondary wheels are disposed at two sides of the primary wheel, respectively. The primary wheel is provided with non-circular engaging members at the two sides. Each secondary wheel is provided with a corresponding engaging member to be engaged with the primary wheel. Molds for the primary wheel and the secondary wheels can be separately developed so as to reduce the total production cost. When taking a turn, the primary wheel and the secondary wheels are operated together to achieve a smooth turn.
Abstract:
A coaxial structure of auxiliary wheels and a primary wheel includes a frame, an axle, a primary wheel and two auxiliary wheels. The frame is pivotally connected to the axle. Both the primary wheel and the auxiliary wheels are separately inserted with bearings or sleeves. The bearings or the sleeves are further inserted onto the axle. Both the primary and the auxiliary wheels wear tires made of different material to increase the contact area with the ground while the frame is inclined to take a turn to prevent from turning over.
Abstract:
This invention relates generally to vehicular transportation for humans and freight by roadway and railway. More specifically, this invention relates to a unique combination of a novel roadway wheel and pneumatic tire assembly, incorporating a known automatic inflate-deflate system and a novel lightweight railway wheel; both wheels then coupled and concentrically assembled on a common axle with special provisions for the known automatic inflation and deflation of the pneumatic roadway tire.
Abstract:
A laminate wheel protector (10, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, 90, 180) includes layers of canvas cloth impregnated with synthetic resin that is polymerized through heat and pressure for insulating a hub or drum of a machine from a wheel. A method for creating a laminate wheel protector (10, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, 90, 180) includes applying pressure to layers of canvas saturated in synthetic resin, applying heat to polymerize to create a laminate, cutting the laminate to form an outer circular circumference, an inner circular opening and a plurality of bolt holes. The laminate wheel protector (10, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, 90, 180) has numerous advantages including preventing oxidation, rust, and galvanic electrolysis between metallic surfaces, reduce heat transfer and vibration, increase longevity and provide proper contact between metallic surfaces among numerous other advantages.
Abstract:
A bolt structure is designed to fasten together a hub, an inner wheel rim, and an outer wheel rim of a motor vehicle wheel. The bolt structure comprises a bolt body, an inner nut, an outer nut, and a protective cap. The bolt body has a large diametrical segment, a small diametrical segment, and a midsegment located between the large diametrical segment and the small diametrical. The inner nut is engaged with the small diametrical segment, whereas the outer nut is engaged with the large diametrical segment and the protective cap. The midsegment of the bolt body retains the hub of the motor vehicle wheel.
Abstract:
A traction device for vehicle wheels comprises an expandable and contractible member (10) mounted next to a wheel (70) or in between dual wheels (12, 14). In another embodiment the device comprises an air chamber (106, 134) formed in the tread of the tire (120).
