Abstract: Apparatus, method, and system for combining a plurality of items into a batch having a set number of items. Number of items are put together onto a production line to form a batch along with non-batch items which are not suitable for inclusion within the batch onto the production line. The batch is advanced on the production line as a partial batch without the non-batch item being added to it when a batch is not complete. A reminder batch is created after the non-batch items have been added to the production line and the remainder batch includes the number of items that must be added to the partial batch to make a full batch.

Abstract: This invention is provided to automate an adjusting job of a restaurant and to realize automatic sorting of tableware and to improve an operating efficiency of a restaurant job. Resonance tags are mounted on bottoms of plates of the tableware in which meals are dished up. The plates are placed on a tray, and the tray is placed on a tray placing position of an adjusting apparatus. A tag reader is buried in a lower portion of the tray placing position, and transmitting antennas and a reception antenna are superposed to form the tag reader. In this case, when radio waves of a plurality of frequencies are oscillated from the transmission antennas, different echo waves are oscillated from the resonance tags of the plates. When the echo waves are received by the reception antenna, the plates are sorted by the resonance frequencies of the resonance tags set to the respective plates. In this case, since a register calculates total amount according to a preset unit price of the meal, the meal on the tray is automatically adjusted.

Abstract: A machine for sorting rod-shaped articles 3-6 of magnetic material in accordance with their respective lengths, such as knives, forks, and spoons, includes a transporting arrangement 1 which comprises magnetic collecting rods 2 which attract magnetically the ends of respective items and carry them past a plurality of underlying magnetic delivery rods 11-14 with the items hanging vertically. The delivery rods are spaced at a progressively diminishing distance from the movement path of the collecting rods so that the lower ends of the longest items 3 come into contact with the first delivery rod 11 and are drawn loose from a collecting rod 2 thereby, this procedure being repeated at each classifying station until the shortest item 6 comes into contact with the last, commensurately spaced delivery rod 14 and is drawn loose thereby.

Abstract: Apparatus for separating cutlery from restaurant waste. A hopper (1) forms a chute and is adapted to be placed above the opening of a waste container. In the hopper there is a sloping surface (2) on which the waste is tipped, there being an opening (3) at the lower portion of the surface. A flap (16) arranged in the hopper is pivotable between two positions, namely a first position (18) for closing off the opening (3) and a second position (19) for uncovering the opening. An electrical switching signal from an inductive type probe (4) controls a drive member (17) for pivoting the flap between the first and second positions. The probe (4) is placed on the underside of the sloping surface (2).

Abstract: A fruit sub-sampler and grading table, especially for use with canning tomatoes, includes a frame. A measured supply of tomatoes is discharged at the entrance end of the frame and as it progresses toward the exit end of the frame is divided longitudinally into two streams. The first stream as it further advances is split to follow a primary path and a parallel but transversely spaced secondary path. Separate belt conveyors individually continue the two paths and are separately controllable as to speed by a pair of inspectors who transfer certain fruit from the belt conveyors to individual containers. These are disposed in the space between the conveyors and are supported on the frame by load cells connected to display individual container weights. Fruit discharged from the exit end of the belt conveyors is carried by a return conveyor toward the entrance end of the conveyor. Fruit in the second stream is discharged over a random selection drum. Fruit segregated by the drum is retained for special inspection, and the remainder of the second stream passing the drum is released to the return conveyor or is intercepted and discharged from the machine.

Abstract: An apparatus for sorting silverware including a hopper for collecting the silverware in bulk amounts and a vibrating bed for gradually discharging the silverwave and conveying it to a sorting stage for dividing the different types of silverware. The sorting stage includes a table defining a barrier against which the silverware is directed. Laterally extending openings are defined by the barrier, and these openings permit the passage of knives past the barrier means. Forks and spoons are held by the barrier means as they are moved over the table and are then dropped onto a structure which separates the forks and spoons. Receptacles are provided for collecting the different types of silverware.

Abstract: Apparatus for receiving and polarizing utensils that have been sorted as to type. The sorting may be accomplished by passing them over a shield containing sorting slots of increasing lengths through which the utensils drop according to their length. From the sorting slots the utensils pass into the polarizers which automatically turn the utensil so that it will pass handle first into the storage bin.
