摘要: The invention relates to a method and system for determining the cardiorespiratory fitness level of a person, with the aid of freely performed exercise in which training: •the physiological intensity of the person is measured periodically during the exercise session (5) •the external work output of the exercise session is measured simultaneously relative to the measured intensity (6), •from each period's measured intensity value and external work output, the representativeness of the values measured is determined (8.1, 8.2), in order to determine the fitness level using the following criteria: ∘the physiological intensity should be stabilized relative to the external work output, ∘the external work output should be within a selected range, ∘the physiological intensity should be greater than a selected lower limit, in which case, a fitness level estimate is defined (8.3) for each accepted period as well as a fitness from several estimates.

摘要: An activity measurement system gives, based upon consecutively measured activity intensities, an exercise index (EX) indicative of energetic exercise and a daily activity index (DA) indicative of a routine living activity within a predetermined measurement time period, and display an activity element A (x, y), a combination of these indexes within an X-Y matrix plane. The exercise index (EX) is calculated at a first operation means as a sum of a product of the activity intensity exceeds a predetermined reference and a time period during which the activity intensity exceeds the reference, within the measurement time period. The daily activity index (DA) is calculated at a second operation means as a caloric consumption divided by a basal metabolic rate of a user within the measurement time period. The caloric consumption is determined a function of the activity intensity per unit time below the reference and data indicative of physical characteristics of the user. The basal metabolic rate is calculated based upon the data of the physical characteristics which are stored in a personal information data table provided in the system.

摘要: The present invention pertains to systems and methods for measuring power output, as in an athletic activity such as cycling. One embodiment relates to a force sensing device configured to be mounted on the bottom surface of a shoe as part of a mechanical linkage through which force is exerted. For cycling, the force sensor is mounted on the bottom surface of a cycling shoe and fitted with a cleat that interlockingly engages a bicycle pedal. To measure both positive and negative pressures on the pedal, the force sensor is pre-stressed with a compressive load to an intermediate point in its dynamic range. Strains that further compress or decompress the force sensor can thus be measured. The computing module mathematically converts the measured pressures, positive and negative, to a measurement of total power exerted by the rider. In addition, the computing module may utilize cyclical regularities in the signal to compute the rider's cadence (pedal revolutions per unit of time). Data from the force sensor is transmitted wirelessly to a remote display where it can be viewed by the rider.
